The MindFuel Foundation

For more than 17 years, Science Alberta Foundation (SAF) has created and delivered innovative programs that promote science literacy in Alberta. We stand alone in taking science where it’s needed most — to families, teachers, librarians and local organizations; within homes, classrooms and learning facilities; from the largest cities to the smallest towns in every corner of Canada’s fastest growing province. Our efforts are inspiring minds and changing futures. As science-related issues become more prevalent in our daily lives and the need for skilled knowledge-workers continues to grow, Science Alberta Foundation will have an even more important role to play. Built on a founding vision of scientific learning as a catalyst to continued prosperity in the global marketplace, SAF has emerged as North America’s first and only source of science-related programs and resources for parents, teachers, librarians and local organizations to use in their homes, classrooms and facilities.

Chinmaya Mission Niagara (Canada)

Chinmaya Mission Niagara (CMN) has been serving society since the late 1980s. Weekly classes were held from home to home until 1999 when Swami Tejomayananda officially created another chapter to Chinmaya Mission Worldwide. Weekly classes for kids, youth and adults continued in schools for the next few years. However, in August of 2007 CMN moved into its own facility named Chinmaya Dhara or the Flow of Consciousness. Just as there was demand for a centre in Niagara, so too was there demand for a teacher. Born and raised in Niagara, Acharya Vivek turned away from the ordinary pursuits of life and took up the extraordinary path within. Having studied Vedanta at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya in Mumbai, India for over two years under the guidance of Swami Tejomayananda, Vivekji has returned to Niagara to share this ancient wisdom with one and all. Today, all activities are taking place at Chinmaya Dhara and are growing both in quality and quantity!

Children Believe

Jamie is one sponsor who saw the results of his sponsorship when he met his sponsored child in Ethiopia. "For us, the decision to sponsor Mestewet was easy. Today, she is a beautiful, bright and healthy little girl from Ethiopia. Not long ago I was able to visit Mestewet while stationed with the Canadian Forces in Addis Ababa. As the CCFC worker and I arrived at Mestewet’s mud-walled, thatch-roofed home, a smiling girl waved and excitedly announced our arrival to her mother. We sat in the darkness of their windowless home. They had nothing except one table and a few mattresses. Yet in Ethiopian tradition, Mestewet’s family welcomed us and gave us everything they had – including freshly roasted coffee! I was touched to see my family’s photo in amongst their few belongings. My mother had sent Mestewet some photos and I could see how proud she was to show her friends the pictures of her Canadian sponsors." CCFC matches Canadians with children in need. Please donate now.
