Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in developing countries by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, they develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the relevant life skills to succeed in school and beyond. Room to Read focuses on two critical areas of educational development where they believe they can have the greatest impact: literacy and gender equality in education. Under these two initiatives, Room to Read implements five core programmes: School Libraries, Book Publishing, School Construction, Reading and Writing Instruction, and Girls' Education.

First Book EIN: 52-1779606 First Book's coronavirus response is focused on making sure students are equipped with books & hygiene supplies to support learning at home. Along with books, First Book is also providing: basic hygiene supplies, such as hand sanitizer, tissues, and antibacterial wipes, fee e-books, and other free resources and activities educators can send home to help parents guide learning -- available in English and Spanish.
