Espace-Famille Villeray was born in 1988 on the willingness of parents to afford respite through a babysitting service. Today, our organization reaches more than 300 families and aims to contribute to the well-being of expectant parents and families with young children (0-5 years old) by enhancing parenting and promoting the relationship of parent-child through a holistic, proactive and respectful approach. More now than ever in the Villeray district, Espace-Famille is an essential resource in early childhood. Through the Daycare service, service-home support for parents of newborns or in our activities, Espace-Famille Villeray helps families learn, share and assist each other with their role as parents or future parents, in addition to providing a safe place for supporting the development of their children.

Shawnigan Lake School is a university preparatory, co-ed boarding school for students in grades 8 through 12. Shawnigan was founded in 1916 by C. W. Lonsdale. Students are given an enriched education with emphasis on academics, fine arts, sport and good moral values. Shawnigan's aim is to develop good citizens of excellent character. ABCD: Art Building Children's Dreams is a small, dedicated group of people who are working to improve the lives of close to 50 disadvantaged children in rural Tanzania. Our dream is that with the education that our donors and supporters are funding for these children, they will become healthy, happy and contributing members of their own villages and communities. The children's innate creativity is utilized as a vehicle for helping themselves out of poverty towards well-being through education. When we visit the children and their families annually, the children are given the opportunity and the instructional help to make art, which they love doing! It comes naturally. This art is brought home to Canada and shared with the children's supporters and with the general public in order to raise funds for their school fees, uniforms, supplies and other needs they may have.

The Children’s Safety Village of Brant is a place where children currently enrolled in elementary school can learn the fundamentals of safety and awareness. Programs such as fire prevention, smoke alarms, traffic safety, bicycle and helmet, internet safety, home alone safety and stranger awareness are taught. The Safety Village serves Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations. In the Fire Prevention training program, after the in-class training, children are encouraged to identify various fire hazards found in Sparky’s apartment. Children are encouraged to demonstrate the skills that they have learned in the police training class in a miniature town that is complete with sidewalks, roadways, street signs, traffic lights, and a working railway crossing. The children navigate their way through the village by foot, on bicycles or in small battery operated jeeps.

Fundacion Via Cocina is a community based project focused on improving the health and economic development of vulnerable women, youth and underprivileged in Medellin Colombia. With a personalized training and mentoring system sharing healthy food recipes, cooking techniques and applied financial planning and entrepreneurial small business fundamentals, we build a program for individuals and families based on their current reality, applying the training to objectives created with them, for them, in their own home. Additionally, we provide classes to individuals and groups who want to learn to cook healthy dishes with local ingredients for their families, transforming them into uncommon flavors that are low in fat, oil, salt and sugar-free. These activities look to decrease frequency and severity of non-communicable diseases in the communities, including obesity, diabetes and cholesterol.

Chatham Christian School provides students in JK through Grade 12 with quality, Christian education. We offer a comprehensive program of studies that meets the Ministry of Education expectations using curriculum that is uniquely filtered through a Christian worldview. Students receive individual attention and encouragement from Christian teachers who re-affirm what is taught in church and in the home. CCS is a non-denomination Christian school with students from over 30 churches enrolled. As an independent school, CCS receives no government funding and must rely on tuition and donations to meet the annual budget. A Tuition Assistance Fund has been established to give financial aid to families who desire to have their children educated in a Christian school but cannot afford the tuition fees.

Diaconal Ministry is rooted in and patterned on the humble loving of Jesus, who "did not come to be served, but to serve". Mark 10:45 FOUR-YEAR DIPLOMA IN DIACONAL MINISTRIES. Each of the first three years of this full-time program is "theme year" - one in education, one in pastoral care and one on social justice. During each theme year, students work at field placements in their home community and gather twice in Winnipeg for intensive two-week Learning Circles. Students also take external university courses. Degrees can be granted through joint agreements with University of Winnipeg and St. Stephen's College in Edmonton. ONE-YEAR CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION, PASTORAL CARE OR SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRIES TWO-WEEK LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT MODULE, WHICH IS A PRE-REQUISITE FOR ALL OTHER CCS PROGRAMS.

Family Day cares for over 4,000 children across the Greater Toronto Area in both centre- and home-based child care programs. We also offer various community services, including o Integration Services, providing consultation and support services for children with developmental delays; o Community Resource Programs for families, caregivers and children, providing playtime, toy-lending, education and support programs; o Training Programs for caregivers and families on a broad spectrum of child and family issues; o The Innovation Centre, developed by the Board of Directors, dedicated to improving the quality of child care through funding and support for research projects and professional consultation with other organizations. We are the lead agency for five Ontario Early Years Centres (Don Valley East, Markham, Mississauga Centre, Scarborough Centre and Thornhill).

We help children obtain an education by the paying school fees and school expenses of elementary and secondary school students through our child scholarship program. We work to keep children with their families supporting grandparents who are caring for their orphaned grandchildren. We partner with Kenyan charities that manage children’s homes (orphanages) and schools. We mitigate the effects of drought by water harvesting through the installation of gutters and tanks which collect rain water from large roofs in arid and semi-arid areas of Kenya. We foster individual self-sustainability by supporting community development projects. We strengthen the church by funding and working directly with local church groups. We help Kenyans to understand and apply universal values and principles that will allow them to succeed and overcome corruption and poverty.

Our Calgary based not for profit organization has worked with families and children with delays or disabilities since 2002. Our teams of professionals provide high quality, research-based programs for children and their families. Lead Foundation's teams work with a range of children from those with mild speech, motor, or behavior delays to children with more complex challenges, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our mandate is to help children and their families practice and learn new skills within their home, preschool, and community. One of our programs focuses on supports for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families. These children can experience significant difficulties with communication, motor challenges, and social skills. Their combined challenges often interfere with their participation in family activities and community based group programs.

Parents as Teachers (PAT) works with parents to provide them with support and information on their developing child and to foster stong, nurturing relationships. Through regular personal home visits, parent group meetings, developmental screenings and connection to community resources the program: - increases parent knowledge of early childhood development and improves parenting practices - provides early detection of developmental delays and health issues - increases children's school readiness and school success - prevents child abuse and neglect The core values of the PAT model are that: - parents are their children's first and most influential teachers - the early years of a child's life are critical for optimal development and provide the foundation for success in school and life - research should be the foundation of parent education and family support services - an understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions of diverse cultures is essential

Amarok Society is a Canadian charity that goes into the world's most forbidding slums to teach mothers to teach children too poor for school. Daily, each mother goes from her Amarok Society Womens' School to teach at least 5 children from her neighbourhood in her own home. Amarok Society teaches literacy in Bangla, English and numeracy as well as health and hygiene and child care and development. The wonderful women of our Mothers of Intention Projects overcome a lifetime of bitter discouragement to find inspiration and hope in the promise that the children will be able to work their way out of their terrible poverty and debilitating ignorance. This is a new, effective, sustainable and cost-efficient method of addressing a very serious and dangerous problem that has resisted improvement in the past. Teach a Mother, Change the World
