Established in 1970, the Miriam Foundation supports rehabilitative, vocational, residential services and programs that foster increased socialization and community integration for children and adults living with intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorders. The Foundation, through the Lou Greenberg association also owns and manages 19 adapted community homes which offer a caring and supportive environment and promote inclusion. The Miriam Foundation also supports educational initiatives of a national scope through its Abe Gold Learning & Research Centre, including conferences and training and a bilingual national web portal (Autism Central). The Miriam Foundation publishes Exceptional Family, a national resource magazine for Parents and caregivers of children with cognitive and physical special needs. The Miriam Foundation also funds the Trampoline Programme, an early intensive therapeutic programme for children with an autism spectrum disorder or a developmental disability.

Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) works in partnership with governments, non-profits, communities, schools and landowners to enhance habitat protection on public and private land - making everyone part of the solution! Established in 1996, HAT's mandate is to protect natural environments on southern Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, a spectacular part of Canada in the south-west corner of British Columbia. This is a special part of Canada where the warm, mild climate is home to species and habitats that cannot be found elsewhere in Canada - and some of these ecosystems and species are the most endangered in the country. A disproportionate number of BC's threatened and endangered species occur in the region, which also has a disproportionate amount of BC's private lands. HAT works to protect land permanently through: * land acquisition through purchase or donation; * conservation covenants; * education & stewardship. Thank you for your support!

The Spence Neighbourhood Association is a resident-directed agency that works with the people of our neighbourhood to create and implement solutions to community concerns. We are located in the inner-city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Spence Neighbourhood is a 25 block area with higher than average youth, aboriginal and new immigrant populations, and housing stock that is over 100 years old. The SNA actively involves residents, business owners, and volunteers in the neighbourhood to plan, develop, and implement projects. It was first incorporated as a non-profit entity in 1997 and is directed by a board made of 8-12 residents of the neighbourhood. Resident participation is a key approach of our organization. Since our inception, we have built 33 homes, run innovative gang prevention programs, created nine community gardens and a community greenhouse site, created a community skills bank, pioneered sports programs for the entire inner city and more!

Nova’s Ark began as a dream by former special education facilitator and recently retired elementary school Principal Mary-Ann Nova. Nova’s Ark is a registered charity (85916 1176 RR0001) providing social and communication opportunities for people of all ages and abilities involving a wide range of exotic and gentle animals. The volunteer peer mentors are a key factor in the successful integration of our visitors with the animals, allowing for unique, positive and memorable experiences. The animals bring people together, but it is our amazing youth volunteers who keep people coming. Supported by private, corporate and service donations, Nova’s Ark provides programs and activities that benefit the community in various ways. Nova’s Ark has created many customized day visits, spring and summer camp opportunities and off site presentations for service organizations, group home facilities, education centers and special event functions.

CBSDC is a charitable organization whose prime focus is the development, expansion, and maintenance of a series of walking and hiking trails. The network originally paralleled the Corner Brook Stream, and has since expanded to interconnect key areas of the city providing a green transportation alternative. This river system flows through the city providing industrial and potable water, while also giving walkers a respite from city life within its natural corridor. The stream is also home to successful reintroduction of a sustaining run of Atlantic salmon. The trail system has been instrumental in influencing healthy lifestyle choices; providing recreational opportunities such as birdwatching, snowshoeing, skiing, jogging, geocaching, orienteering, swimming, etc. CBSDC has also partnered with local schools and educational facilities to assist in programming and use of the trails as a venue for a variety of academic pursuits. TWO WHEEL VIEW believes that all youth should have the opportunity to expand their physical and cultural boundaries. There are many youth, due to financial or social limitations, that are never exposed to what may provide the greatest source of learning – real life experiences that bring home valuable insights and logical steps for positive change. By exposing young people to new challenges, other cultures and diverse environments through an intense hands-on experience, TWO WHEEL VIEW believes we can open young people's eyes to new ways of thinking and positively impact them to create positive change in their own lives and communities for the future. TWO WHEEL VIEW offers a range of programs from local after-school programs to international bicycle expeditions. All programs are free for youth and are supported through individual donations, grants, and volunteer support.

Community Forests International works to connect people and their communities to the forests that sustain them. As the pace of global environmental degradation intensifies, the need for positive environmental stewardship and a balance between humanity and nature has become a necessity. Community Forests International was formed when a group of fishermen in Pemba, Tanzania felt the need to alleviate pressure on the environment. To provide food and timber sustainably, hundreds of Pembans began planting trees in a process of restoration. Today, Pembans plant over 100,000 trees annually for the provision of fruit, nuts, timber and increased habitat while improving the conditions of their environment. Building on the belief that a communities can motivate for positive change, CFl has grown to support over 12 communities in Pemba, Tanzania, while initiating climate change education world-wide. In 2009, Community Forests International began programming in its home country, Canada.

One of Canada’s finest and last remaining grand estates, featuring architectural, landscape and interior designs of the 1920’s and 1930’s, Parkwood was home, from 1917-1972, to auto baron R. Samuel McLaughlin (founder of General Motors Canada)and his family. Parkwood is praised by Canada’s Historic Site and Monuments Board as “a rare surviving example of the type of estate developed in Canada during the inter-war years, and is rarer still by its essentially intact condition, furnished and run to illustrate as it was lived within.” The majestic estate that was once a private enclave experienced by a select few is now a National Historic Site, open year-round, to be enjoyed by all. The Parkwood Foundation has successfully raised $5 million to date, for conservation and preservation of this magnificent estate. The Vancouver Chamber Choir is one of Canada’s national treasures, an outstanding professional vocal ensemble noted for its diverse repertoire and performing excellence. The Choir has been performing to audiences at home in Vancouver and on tour across Canada since it was formed in 1971 by conductor Jon Washburn. International excursions have taken the Vancouver Chamber Choir to the USA, Mexico, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Finland, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine. Honoured with the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence by Chorus America, the Vancouver Chamber Choir has to its credit countless performances, 30 recordings, hundreds of radio broadcasts and numerous awards. Recognized by the Canadian League of Composers as foremost supporters of Canadian music, Jon Washburn and the Choir have commissioned and premiered nearly 250 Canadian choral compositions.

Working collaboratively since 1995, we expand the demand for healthier, more vibrant communities with our adaptable mapmaking tools and universal icons, multi-lingual participatory websites, workshops and regional hubs. Transforming local information into global interaction, our interactive Open Green Map platform invites the public to enhance the maps as well as explore them.

Whitesbog Village is a historic company town and farm with 25 historic buildings, blueberry farm fields, cranberry bogs, hiking trails, reservoirs, streams, a picnic grove and the Elizabeth White Gardens. In the early 1900’s, Whitesbog was the largest cranberry farm in New Jersey and its founder, Joseph J. White, was a nationally recognized leader in the cranberry industry. In 1916, Elizabeth C. White collaborated with Dr. Frederick A. Coville of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and successfully developed the first cultivated blueberry here at Whitesbog. Elizabeth developed a nursery here, built her home, Suningive and her gardens of native Pine Barrens plants. Our mission is to restore, protect and enhance historic Whitesbog Village, and to preserve and interpret the White family legacy, inspiring audiences of all ages to experience the origins and past innovations of cranberry and blueberry culture and the rich and unique ecology of the NJ Pine Barrens.

Puppetmongers was established in 1974 by the sister and brother team of Ann Powell and David Powell. Between 1974 and 1989, we toured our shows for family audiences extensively to most major Canadian and US centres as well as in the UK, France, Belgium, Germany and Iran. Since 1990 we have focused on working nearer home, with the addition of short tours to festivals and theatre runs further afield. We create larger, more theatrical shows, involving many artists and self-produce our works in theatres. We have ventured into puppetry for adult audiences with several productions and work with other artists, such as on in composer R. Murray Schafer's Palace of the Cinnabar Phoenix. Most recently we mounted Charles Dickens’ Hard Times. We founded The School of Puppetry in 1996 with courses for adults, as a vehicle for disseminating our vision. This season the course is being incorporated into Humber College’s new Puppet Intensive Program.
