The Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples is a Native non-profit organization dedicated to Indigenous Peoples' self-determination and the sovereignty of Native nations. The Masonic Higher Education Bursary was established by Most Worshipful Brother Ross Sheppard, an Edmonton School Superintendent as the Official Outreach Charity of the Freemasons under the Grand Lodge of Alberta. The first four bursaries of $500.00 were given in 1959. Today, the Grand Lodge of Alberta continues to raise funds to assist students, who are in financial need, to attend university or college.
