The Center for Resilient Cities builds robust and thriving urban communities that are healthy, just, economically viable and environmentally sound. We envision a world of resilient cities filled with clean water, clear air, green landscapes, sustainable and just food systems, and healthy people in economically thriving neighborhoods.

The Center for Neighborhood Technology was founded to develop and test new sustainable economic development strategies and act as resource for local organizations working to improve their neighborhoods. Over the years it has assumed a number of different roles: spearheading research, analysis, and mapping; convening, staffing, and managing consortia and partnerships; developing and demonstrating new economic development tools and strategies; organizing policy campaigns; and acting as a funding intermediary. All of these roles have addressed, in different ways , how to take better advantage of the urban environment and its many undervalued assets--transportation networks, social networks, density, and natural infrastructure--in ways that deliver tangible benefits to households and communities.

ISC's mission is to help communities around the world address environmental, economic, and social challenges to build a better future shaped and shared by all. We are in the business of unleashing the power of people to transform their communities. Our approach ensures solutions emerge from within the community, rather than being imposed from the outside. By sharing international best practices and experience, providing technical expertise and training, and building the capacity of local organizations, we are sparking creative solutions and lasting change. Since our founding in 1991 by former Vermont Governor Madeleine M. Kunin and current ISC President George Hamilton, ISC has led transformative, community-driven projects across the globe. Over the years, we have developed an approach that supports a community’s ability to meet challenges head on.

The Center for Coastal Studies conducts scientific research with emphasis on marine mammals of the western North Atlantic and on the coastal and marine habitats and resources of the Gulf of Maine. We promote stewardship of coastal and marine ecosystems and conduct educational activities that encourage responsible use and conservation. We collaborate with other institutions and individuals whenever possible to advance our mission.

At the Center for Biological Diversity, we believe that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature — to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants. Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that species need to survive. We want those who come after us to inherit a world where the wild is still alive.

The Foundation for Geauga Parks is an independent, non-profit organization created to raise money to fund community engagement with nature through education, preservation, conservation and appreciation of the unique natural character of Geauga County.

Protecting the health of Oregonians through the reduction of toxic air pollution.

To collect unused medical supplies from local medical facilities and distribute them to countries in need, effectively limiting the negative impact on our environment and supporting health care efforts in developing countries; to send local medical personnel on medical missions to developing countries; to educate our local community about global health issues.

Committee for Green Foothills works to protect open space, farmland, and natural resources in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties through advocacy, education, and grassroots action. Given that we want to achieve longstanding victories, not just immediate successes, we have concrete goals for each of our areas of work. We vigilantly monitor local land use issues and take action when we have the opportunity to move closer to achieving meaningful victories. With a changing climate, predicted extreme weather events, and limits on our planet’s natural resources, our consistent voice for healthy, working ecosystems may be our best investment in the future.
