“To protect and enhance the health of the salt ponds for the benefit of wildlife and people.” Our mission includes educating the residents of the salt ponds region about the salt ponds' value to the economy, and how residents can contribute to the well-being of the resource. SPC also acts as a conduit between the residents of the coastal communities and state and local governments for the flow of information vital to the survival of the salt ponds and their environs. SPC works to implement programs which enhance the environment of the salt ponds and contribute to their protection, preservation, and economic well-being. Finally, we network with other organizations to make our ecological experience available to residents of other New England coastal areas with similar needs.

Vision: A healthy & thriving Severn River for present and future generations.Mission: We engage the local community with the Severn River and its tributaries through advocacy, education and restoration.Our programs focus areas:ADVOCATE – to build a broader and more diverse community of stewards to meet the growing needs of an expanding population, while conserving the Severn River’s health. EDUCATE - learners of all ages about one of the most biodiverse tracts of land, rivers, and trails, in the country, the Scenic Severn River and its watershed. RESTORE – Mother Nature’s water treatment plants – oysters and underwater grasses. With volunteers and partners we are re-establishing the processes necessary to support our River’s natural habitat.

CAUSE Canada is an international relief and development agency working in West Africa and Central America. Our development priorities include: Primary Health Care (PHC) Water and Sanitation Education Reforestation Gender-Specific Development Initiatives (Women’s Projects) Micro-enterprise Projects CAUSE Canada understands that development is a process rather than an end, and that to develop is not to have but to become. Consequently, CAUSE Canada plans, organizes, fundraises for, implements, and evaluates international development programs, in close long-term partnership with communities, that focus on the strengths people and communities already posses and assisting them to utilize those assets to become what they want to become. This is our affirmative assets-based approach.

CFCAS enhances Canada’s scientific capacity by funding the generation and dissemination of knowledge in areas of national importance and policy relevance, through focused support for excellent university-based research in climate and atmospheric sciences. CFCAS supports efforts to: Understand our climate system, high-impact weather, air quality and ocean-atmosphere interactions; Improve weather predictions; Generate skilled human resources; Provide scientific information to support federal policymaking and service delivery. CFCAS research grants indirectly promote: Job creation and the retention of skilled researchers; Economic growth and sustainable development; Technological innovation for weather and other environment industries; Weather security and human health issues.

The Bay Area Restoration Council (BARC) is at the centre of citizen efforts to restore and protect the ecosystem health of Hamilton Harbour and its watershed. A community non-profit group, BARC also functions as a watchdog organization, assessing and promoting the clean up projects for the bay. Local stakeholders and governments follow a clean up strategy, created by the community, called the Remedial Action Plan (RAP). Continued commitment to the plan is essential to achieve habitat restoration, public accessibility and improved water quality goals. Involving the community in harbour issues requires public participation and membership support. The Bay Area Restoration Council delivers school programs, guided harbour tours and lecture series.

Street Ministry: There are people in need in our community. We commit daily to meet the immediate physical needs of those who find themselves in the unfortunate situation of being on the street, hungry or lonely. Inn From The Cold: A nightly need in our community is for emergency shelter. Open Arms facilitates this program from November to April each year. “Drop In”: The Open Arms Community Resourse Centre is located in downtown Kentville. This is our hub where we network our services and clients with local churches and government agencies. Here we counsel guests on services available that will help them move forward towards greater physical and spiritual health.

Toronto-based Mindfulness Everyday, a registered charitable organization, has assembled a dedicated team of professionals, experienced in conducting mindfulness programs. Mindfulness Everyday offers MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) workshops, in non-clinical settings, as well as programs for youth, parents and educators. We are committed to improving the health and well-being of community members and the networks that support children and youth, by providing tailored mindfulness programs. Many of our adult participants voiced the wish to have learned mindfulness much earlier in their lives. We have been continually developing programming, facilitating research, and teaching mindfulness in schools and community settings since 2009.

Our mission is to aid and support children suffering from poverty, sickness, lack of education or who have experienced physical or moral violence, by offering them the opportunity and the hope of a new life. It is an independent, lay organisation and is also designated an ONLUS (Non-profit organisation of social value). It operates without discrimination of culture, ethnicity and religion and upholds the United Nations rights of the child. The Foundation works around the world and is closest to the weakest and most neglected children offering them food, medicine, health care, education and programmes for social reintegration. In pursuing its goal, Mission Bambini is inspired by the following values: freedom, justice, truth, respect for others and solidarity.

Charity Centre for Children and Youth Development exists to supporting HIV/AIDS education, Persons living with disabilities, orphans and vulnerable children, youth and women in Solwezi district of Zambia by providing them with, educational support (provision of school requisites and literacy materials), health and life skills and vocational Training. These enables disadvantaged members of our society live life of independence and contribute to the national economy. We envision a society that will work towards eradication of vulnerability and illiteracy among Orphans and vulnerable children, youths and women. The Organization's mission is to promote and enhance the capabilities of children, youth and women in Solwezi district and beyond to effect positive social change that would necessitate the development of their lives, communities and the nation at large.

Georgia Strait Alliance brings diverse people together to foster common goals, partnerships and solutions to marine protection in British Columbia's unique inland sea, the Georgia Strait. In this beautiful stretch of water, pollution, industrial activities, development and fishing pressures have taken their toll. Some fish stocks have collapsed and the Strait's killer whales are now officially endangered. However, it's not too late to turn the tide. Caring people are working hard to restore the health of our coastal waters. Togeher we can: reduce pollution in our waters; protect marine wildlife and its habitat; conserve wild salmon stocks; have a healthy economy and a healthy environment for generations to come.

We work with a broad range of stakeholders to improve cooperation for more effective water protection - including monitoring, data sharing, outreach, education, and research. We are in the process of re-designing Water Connections, an online portal to connect Canada's water community, in order to better serve its users. www.waterconnect.ca will allow everyone to share data, experiences, best practices, templates, news, and events about their own water activities, and will generate engagement within communities for water protection. Other important initiatives include educating shoreline owners and recreational water users how to best conserve the health of lakes and rivers. Our location is also home to an impressive demonstration site for a zero discharge wastewater garden!
