More than 100 million children worldwide do not have the opportunity to attend school. SCW Canada believes that no child should be denied the right to attend school and receive a meaningful education. Education is the single most powerful weapon in the fight against poverty. SCW empowers children in developing countries through the provision of new school facilities, educational opportunities and a safe, healthy and secure learning environment. SCW Canada is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of poor communities, one school at a time.

The Eno River Association is an accredited 501(c)3 non-profit land trust that protects the natural, cultural and historic resources of the Eno River basin in northern Durham and Orange counties. We have been instrumental in creating five public parks: Eno River State Park, Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area, West Point on the Eno Durham City Park, Penny’s Bend Nature Preserve, and the Little River Regional Park. We continue to acquire land and secure easements for recreation and to protect water quality, wildlife, farms, and forests.

To protect and preserve these boardwalks for future generations the Friends of the Sanctuary will be launching a 2014 "Get on Board" boardwalk rehabilitation project. With one boardwalk closed due to deterioration and the existing Redwing Trail fast nearing deterioration it is vital to have these replaced to accommodate all visitors now and in the future. As The Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary is so heavily utilized by our surrounding communities and more importantly our school children in these communities it is of great importance we preserve the natural assets of the Sanctuary for future generations. This will be a first of many steps to be taken in the revitalization of the Sanctuary to further increase the popularity of this precious gem on the St. Lawrence River.
