Soaring high since 1981, Owl has provided a nurturing environment and we are now welcoming second and third generations of children into our care. Owl has grown to seven centres in Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge, serving over 1000 children each day! Our vision, mission, values, beliefs, and accomplishments have all contributed to our success as being a leader in providing quality care for children 3 months to 10 years of age. With Owl’s friendly staff, nutritious snacks/lunches prepared on-site, and outdoor activities twice per day, it’s no wonder we have a strong reputation in the communities we serve. Our registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) use play-based learning to maximize each child's developmental potential. Play-based learning builds upon children's natural inclination to make sense of the world through play. The six primary areas of learning are; Creativity/innovation, Health & physical activity, Language, Numeracy, Personal and social development, and Science.

In that time we have welcomed hundreds of thousands of volunteers from around Australia and across the world and supported their participation in a diversity of important projects to protect and enhance our environment. Un Mundo

Our mission is to promote dignity, community, and self-sufficiency by working with marginalized populations in rural Honduras on a long-term basis, facilitating access to health care, education, and livable wages. Our comprehensive approach to grassroots community development promotes local traditions, encourages community leadership, and emphasizes collective ownership. Un Mundo seeks to improve the present and future socio-economic conditions and the quality of life of the families in rural Honduras who are living in extreme poverty by providing them with tools and resources to be self-sufficient and unified. Our work began from spontaneous relief actions after Hurricane Mitch devastated Honduras in 1998, and we grew to gain 501(c)(3) nonprofit status in 2001. Initially, the organization was sustained by the generosity of international volunteers, but we have gradually evolved such that more and more of our project work is managed by local Honduran leaders. Within a few years, we expect that we will be able to realize our vision of seeing equitable, fruitful, life-giving projects in the Cangrejal River Valley being 100% run by the local communities.

Karuna-Shechen

With the goal of helping under-served communities in India, Nepal, and Tibet receive the vital services they need, Karuna-Shechen was founded in 2000 by Matthieu Ricard (www.matthieuricard.org), renown TED speaker, author, and humanitarian. We strive to reduce inequalities and work toward a fairer and more compassionate world. We trust that communities can be lifted out of poverty, that change is possible, and that the well-being of every individual, regardless of race, gender, class, or caste, is essential. We believe that building on local strengths and knowledge is the most efficient way to respond to the specific needs and aspirations of our beneficiaries. Rooted in the ideal of "compassion in action", we serve others with joy and determination by cultivating altruism in our hearts and actions. We provide vulnerable and disadvantaged populations access to health care, education and vocational training, clean water, solar electricity, and other sustainable solutions that offer options to find a livelihood and a better life. We work with a grassroots network of local partners, and give special attention to the education and empowerment of girls and women. Karuna-Shechen's name expresses its mission while paying homage to its roots: Karuna means "compassion" in Sanskrit, and Shechen is the name of a major monastery in Tibet.

TROUT UNLIMITED - SCOTTSDALE

Our mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America's coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. TU is a national organization with about 300,000 members and supporters organized into over 400 chapters and councils from Maine to Montana to Alaska. This dedicated grassroots army is matched by a respected staff of lawyers, policy experts and scientists, who work out of more than 30 offices nationwide. These conservation professionals ensure that TU is at the forefront of fisheries restoration work at the local, state and national levels. The organization remains committed to applying "the very best information and thinking available" in its conservation work and has developed cutting-edge tools such as the Conservation Success Index (CSI), a sophisticated framework for assessing the health of coldwater fish species throughout their native range. The CSI enables TU to measure its progress in achieving the bold goals laid out in its mission and vision. These goals require the organization to work at increasingly larger scales, and to collaborate with other conservation interests, local communities and state and federal partners to begin to rebuild the natural resiliency of watersheds. Such efforts are crucial if North America's trout and salmon are to survive climate change and the host of threats facing them at the start of the 21st century. Nearly 50 years after its founding, no other conservation organization is as well placed as TU to make a difference for the nation's coldwater fisheries.

THE CHILDREN'S BREAKFAST CLUB

To enable each community to provide for school-age children a hot, nutritious, culturally reflective breakfast in a social educational and stimulating environment. ABOUT US For more than 40 years, The Children’s Breakfast Clubs has provided healthy meals and educational, cultural and recreational activities to children across Southern Ontario, in a respectful and dignified manner. While originally focused on breakfast, we have expanded our offerings to include lunch programs at select clubs, ensuring children receive nutritious meals throughout the day to support their growth, learning, and overall well-being. OUR HISTORY Our doors opened in 1984 after it was determined that many community needs and concerns could be addressed with a breakfast program. Today, The Children's Breakfast Clubs operate as a non-profit organization in over 39 clubs. OUR IMPACT Quite often, hunger is invisible to the untrained eye and children are less likely to disclose this information to adults. Starting the day with a healthy breakfast has a proven track record that leads to improved overall health, decrease in behavioral issues, higher self-esteem and confidence levels, as well as better academic performance and extra-curricular participation. Using a holistic approach, we also deliver educational, cultural and recreational programs that help children aged 5 to 18 develop social, physical and cognitive skills.

Big Sur Land Trust is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire love of land across generations, conservation of our unique Monterey County landscapes, and access to outdoor experiences for all. We see a future where natural landscapes, working lands, urban open spaces and healthy communities are cared for by people who share a love of nature and a deep appreciation for the richness of their diverse cultures. Since 1978, our generous donors and partners have conserved over 40,000 acres throughout Monterey County. As an accredited land trust, our work promotes: 1. HEALTHY LANDS: Conserving and caring for the magnificent natural landscapes, habitats and waterways of our region to ensure a sustainable future. 2. HEALTHY PEOPLE: Providing opportunities for all who live in and visit Monterey County to experience the healthful benefits associated with access to parks and open spaces, fresh food, clean air and water, and a deep connection to nature. 3. Project 1808, Inc

Project1808 promotes sustainable community development in Kabala, Koinadugu District, Sierra Leone by aiding young students in their efforts to identify and address the root causes of poverty, public and environmental health challenges, and other community-identified concerns. Among our project's specific aims are the following: Fostering academic excellence and nurturing a resilient knowledge base through student mentoring, tutoring, internships, and teacher training programs. Stimulating curiosity, creativity, and innovation through student generated projects that enhance knowledge and encourage students to implement their ideas in ways that benefit their communities. Facilitating local and global partnerships for knowledge exchange, training for students, teachers and community members, student mentoring, and resources to sustain the community knowledge base Our Model Project1808 Model for sustainable development At the core of our sustainable community model is an investment in disadvantaged youth, schools, and their communities to form the building blocks as LEGOs of healthy communities in Sierra Leone and Africa. Through specific GLocal (Global and Local) partnerships, we practice the concept of thinking globally and acting locally, enhancing the exchange of knowledge, increasing the cultural competency, and expanding the worldview of all of our participants. Project1808 is committed to optimizing partnerships between educational institutions locally, within Africa and overseas, particularly with the involvement of other African countries. We want to bring back hope to youths (and whole communities) whose lives, homes, families, schools, infrastructure, institutions were destroyed by 11 years of war in Sierra Leone.

Ngo Committee On Sustainable Development

The purpose of the NGO Committee on Sustainable Development-NY is to monitor, educate, support and influence the implementation of the commitments and agreements adopted by the United Nations that pertain to sustainable development as defined by the UN Conference on Environment and Development, the 1992 Rio Earth Summit, the MDGs, the SDGs, Rio+20 and Post-2015 Agenda for the Sustainable Development Agenda. We seek to be knowledgeable about sustainable development issues under discussion or expected to be discussed by the United Nations for the High Level Political Forum. We focus attention on education at all levels and promote the programs of the United Nations on 17 Sustainable Development Goals for the success of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, working closely with relevant UN commissions and agencies such as the United Nations Environment Programme and the Centre for Human Settlements (UN-Habitat), UNDP, UNDESA, UN Women, UNFPA, UNDPI and UNODA. Through our programs we promote and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of information on sustainable development issues with meetings, webinars and events for the our NGO community and the general public to raise awareness toward action plans and agendas. We work with Ambassadors and Permanent Missions to the United Nations, UN Agencies, members of civil society, academia which includes women, youth, people with disabilities, indigenous leaders, with people of all ages and regions, including members of the private sector and sustainable development experts in energy, health, water, climate change, protecting our oceans and infrastructure to bring about partnerships and collaborations that fosters innovative solutions for sustainable development, social impact initiatives and gender equality so we - “Leave No One Behind.”

The mission of Project P.E.C.E.S., Inc. is to promote the educational, economic, and social development of southeastern Puerto Rico. The mission of the organization is directed to four programmatic areas: education, youth intervention and health, economic development, and community development with a special focus on youth development. Each goal seeks to strengthen the capacity of the southeastern communities- especially their youth - to resolve their own community problems. The Program for Community Education through Commitment and Service, Inc. (P.E.C.E.S., Inc.) is a non-profit community organization incorporated in the State Department of Puerto Rico, with federal tax exemption (501-C-3) and state tax exemption (101-6). The goals of Project P.E.C.E.S., Inc. are directed to four programmatic areas: education, youth intervention, economic development and community development. The objectives of P.E.C.E.S., Inc. are: To contribute to the economic development of southeastern Puerto Rico. To form leaders that participate in the social development of their communities. To improve the educational opportunities of southeastern Puerto Rico. To strengthen families and communities through programs directed to impact high risk behaviors. To prevent child abuse and neglect, high risk behaviors, and negative conduct through an integral program of prevention, counseling, orientation and social work. To reduce and prevent the abuse of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, AIDS, violence, and juvenile delinquency. To provide youth with positive alternatives, service opportunities, and leadership formation. Project P.E.C.E.S., Inc. is very proud of our following accomplishments: Operating the first licensed and accredited high school created especially for school drop outs. Preparing more than 600 community youth leaders throughout our 25 years of service in southeastern Puerto Rico. Administering the Natural Reserve of Humacao, based upon a contract of 15 years with the Natural Department of Resources, as an initiative to create employment and community economic development, as an ecological tourism business and as an environmental protection project.
