Water School empowers communities through a 3-Step program, which integrates sanitation and hygiene education with a simple and sustainable water treatment technology called Solar Disinfection (SODIS). With this process, water from the local supply is placed in clear plastic bottles and set in the sun where ultraviolet rays disinfect the water. Hours later, that dirty water is now clean and safe to drink. It’s that simple. Water School goes beyond SODIS and works with schools to teach students sanitation & hygiene basics such as hand-washing and the importance of using latrines. BridgIT's Program objective is to provide improved drinking water to rural areas in developing countries. W|W was founded by Doc Hendley who started working in Darfur in 2004, W|W later became an official non-profit organization in 2007 and has since worked in 48 countries and reached more than 1.2 milion people with clean drinking water.It's people and partnerships with donors, international ground partners and volunteers that make what we do at W|W successful. We work with local people and utilize local materials to be sustainable and effective in everything we do.
