Big Sur Land Trust

Big Sur Land Trust is a non-profit organization with a mission to inspire love of land across generations, conservation of our unique Monterey County landscapes, and access to outdoor experiences for all. We see a future where natural landscapes, working lands, urban open spaces and healthy communities are cared for by people who share a love of nature and a deep appreciation for the richness of their diverse cultures. Since 1978, our generous donors and partners have conserved over 40,000 acres throughout Monterey County. As an accredited land trust, our work promotes: 1. HEALTHY LANDS: Conserving and caring for the magnificent natural landscapes, habitats and waterways of our region to ensure a sustainable future. 2. HEALTHY PEOPLE: Providing opportunities for all who live in and visit Monterey County to experience the healthful benefits associated with access to parks and open spaces, fresh food, clean air and water, and a deep connection to nature. 3. HEALTHY COMMUNITIES: Engaging in partnerships where conservation and civic participation increase community vitality, economic prosperity and social equity. Big Sur Land Trust is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) governed by a board of trustees, operated by a professional staff and supported by hundreds of members and volunteers. Our work is funded by generous private donations and public conservation funding. We are proud to be accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. Friends Of Walker Pond

Over the years, Friends of Walker Pond has funded, and continues to fund, projects that allow Walker Pond to remain one of the healthiest bodies of water in Maine. The group works with the towns of Brooksville and Sedgwick to ensure that our members, area residents and summer guests are aware of the activities affecting the health and enjoyment of the pond. The group engages experts to test and monitor water quality every year and has done so for 20+ years. Friends of Walker Pond has also been active in raising awareness regarding land development that might have the potential to damage the health and environment of the pond. This has all been done with donated funds and volunteer involvement.

Willamette Riverkeeper

Willamette Riverkeeper’s sole mission is to protect and restore the Willamette River. We believe that a river with good water quality and abundant natural habitat, safe for fishing and swimming is a basic public right. The Willamette River belongs to all of us and should be protected as such. They work to enable the Willamette River Watershed to function more naturally with cold, pure water, meandering backchannels, and dynamic habitat for fish and wildlife. The health of this natural ecosystem is inseparable from the quality of life of our communities who live and work in its surrounding watershed; each is dependent on the other.

Friends Of Casco Bay

Friends of Casco Bay works to protect the health of Casco Bay because it is a place of national, regional, and personal significance. The Bay affects our quality of life, our tax base, and the weather in our region. Valued for its rich diversity of marine life, Casco Bay was designated an Estuary of National Significance by the federal government in 1990. At the heart of Maine?s most populated region, the Bay is of immeasurable value to the 42 communities in its watershed. The Bay sustains our economy, supporting a vast array of industries: shipping, tourism, commercial fish and shellfish harvesting, and oil transport. The Bay provides abundant recreational opportunities, from wind-surfing and angling to boating and beachcombing. Our community?s identity and wellbeing are inextricably linked to the health of the Bay. For the 300,000 people that call the watershed home, Casco Bay is a source of recreation, inspiration, and economic vitality.Friends of Casco Bay fills a unique niche in Maine?s environmental and nonprofit community. We are: Locally-focused: We are the only organization whose sole focus is protecting Casco Bay. Science-based: The positions we take are backed up by data collected by our highly trained staff and EPA-certified volunteers.  Pragmatic: We are results-oriented, striving for measurable outcomes that protect the environment. Collaborative: We know that protecting the Bay is a group effort, so we work closely with scientists, government officials, businesses, residents, and other partners.
