Founded in 1984, The Canadian MPS Society is committed to providing support to individuals and families affected with MPS and related diseases, educating medical professionals and the general public about MPS, and raising funds for research so that one day there will be cures for all MPS and related diseases. The Society is a registered charity governed by its Board of Directors with the support and expertise of its Medical Advisory Board. Currently there is no cure for MPS or related lysosomal storage disorders and until recently, treatment for MPS and related diseases has been primarily symptomatic, with bone marrow transplantation considered a successful, although high-risk, procedure in some cases; however, research in the past decade has led to exciting advancements in gene therapy as well as to the development of enzyme replacement therapies (ERTs). Continued research is necessary in order to find cures for all types of MPS and related diseases.

The Lung Association, Manitoba is a member of the Canadian Lung Association, which has been working to improve the lung health of Canadians for over 100 years. We are a non-profit, registered health organization that relies on donations from the public to fund our activities. We are the premier source of lung health information and initiatives in Manitoba. Our efforts are focused on lung disease education & management, tobacco cessation & prevention, improved air quality & environment, tuberculosis and occupational health services. The cornerstone of hospice and palliative care is the belief that individuals and families coping with incurable and progressive illness should be cared for compassionately. Hospice by the Bay's mission is to alleviate pain; to prevent and treat conditions that might otherwise threaten the quality of life; and to provide support to the patient's family and loved ones, including grief counseling for adults, teens and children.

Our services extend beyond simply providing food. Our programs are designed to build skills that help people move out of the cycle of poverty. We offer a full range of programs within our facility including: the provision of Emergency Food Assistance, the Food Co-operative program, Infant, Youth, Adult and Seniors Program and Employment Readiness Programs. Programs provided by outside agencies available at our facility include: Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge and North Dumfries; Waterloo Region Community Legal Services and ACCKWA.

The Progeria Research Foundation's (PRF) mission is to find treatments and the cure for Progeria and its aging-related disorders, including heart disease. Progeria is a fatal, 'rapid aging' disease that afflicts children, who die of heart disease at an average age of 14 years. PRF was founded in 1999 in response to the complete lack of resources and research on Progeria, and is the only organization in the world solely dedicated to discovering treatments and the cure for this devastating condition.

Going Beyond the Pink works to empower people affected by breast cancer by providing practical education, patient navigation, local support services (care bags, wigs/prosthetics), workshops, and targeted financial assistance. The organization focuses on helping patients in southeastern North Carolina move through diagnosis, treatment, and into survivorship with information and community-based resources.

The mission of The Council on Recovery is to keep our community healthy, productive and safe by providing services and information to all who may be adversely affected by alcohol, drugs and related issues. The vision of The Council On Recovery is a community in which substance abuse is no longer a major community problem; all people who experience alcohol, drug or related problems have access to effective, affordable services that address their needs; and that individuals and organizations find the freedom from the shame and stigma currently attached to substance abuse.
