The foundation provides education and awareness about breast cancer and offers timely, direct financial assistance to people undergoing breast cancer treatment (helping with medical co-pays, housing, transportation, groceries and other essential needs). Its work emphasizes fast, patient-centered support for women in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR WOMEN DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST, OVARIAN, ENDOMETRIAL, OR CERVICAL CANCERS. FUNDS RAISED THROUGH VARIOUS FUNDRAISING EVENTS ARE USED TO ASSIST WITH NONMEDICAL DAILY LIVING EXPENSES SUCH AS RENT, FOOD AND UTILITIES. PURCHASES FOR PATIENTS UNDERGOING CANCER TREATMENT INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: WIGS, PROSTHESES AND SPECIAL GARMENTS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE BUT CRITICAL TO IMPROVING A PATIENT'S SELF-ESTEEM AND RECOVERY.

The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester's mission is to to provide support to those coping with a breast cancer diagnosis, to make education and advocacy a priority, and to empower women and men to participate fully in decisions relating to breast cancer. Our focus is on breast and gynecological cancer support, education and advocacy. We also fund breast cancer research that focuses on cause (initiation), prevention, and halting progression of disease (metastasis).
