THE TORONTO COMMANDERY HOSPICE INC.

Our goal is to build and operate a residential hospice to serve the north, central and east Toronto areas. The Hospice will be operated at no cost to the families it serves and will be non-denominational, non-sectarian and non-disease specific. The Ontario Government has agreed to fund a large portion of nursing care provided at the facility. We are currently engaged in raising $5 Million to fund the capital cost of building this much needed facility. This project is much needed by the Community and cannot succeed without your participation. We thank you for your generous support!

Established in 2003, the Cancer Recovery Foundation of Canada works to deliver simple acts of care and kindness to individuals and families experiencing cancer. Our programs focus on patient services and direct care to families affected by a child or parent’s cancer. We help to meet the physical, emotional and financial needs of those affected by cancer. All of our funding goes to assist patients directly.

THE MILTON DISTRICT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Incorporated in 1980, the Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF) was founded to assist Milton District Hospital in funding new and replacement equipment needs and community education programs. The Foundation serves as the primary philanthropic arm for the Milton District Hospital and is responsible for generating and administering all charitable gifts for the Hospital. A Board of Directors comprised of business and civic leaders in the community governs the Milton District Hospital Foundation.

DURHAM OUTLOOK FOR THE NEEDY

Durham Outlook for the Needy is a non-profit organization started in 1990 by local Oshawa residents that operates St. Vincent Pallotti Kitchen. The Kitchen strives to offer a daily meal in a dignified manner to the needy in our community. We exist and operate with no government funding, an only with the generous donations from caring individuals and corporations we are able to carry out our Mission. The Kitchen served its one millionth meal in August 2010.

The Heart of Hastings Hospice provides community-based volunteer in-home and residential service in the Municipalities of Centre Hastings, Marmora & Lake, Tweed, Tudor & Cashel, and the Townships o Madoc and Stirling-Rawdon. The Heart of Hastings Hospice is dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and their families who are facing the terminal phase of illness, as well as offering bereavement support to family/caregivers following the death of a loved one. The Heart of Hastings Hospice is a non-profit organization partially funded by the government, but depends on donations and fundraising to meet budget requirements.

The Centre for Mindfulness Studies

The Centre for Mindfulness Studies is an innovative charity in Toronto, Ontario. We offer mindfulness-based therapies and professional training for health care and social service providers. As a social enterprise, we use the revenue generated by these programs as a sustainable source of funding for the services we provide for free or at nominal cost to those who face economic and/or social barriers. In our social program, we have partnered with social service agencies across Toronto, training front-line workers in strategies for coping with stress, and delivering therapy to their clients; including low-income women in Parkdale, and isolated seniors in Lawrence Heights.

The Ontario Finnish Resthome Foundation

Through various fund raising projects, memorials, donations, gifts, bequests, the Foundation has helped the Association with the cost of wheelchair repairs and provided such items as a 'Snoezelen Light Therapy System' (MKK), A Lifeline Emergency Call System (for Kotitalo residents) and new chairs for the Kestitupa dining room at Suomi Eesti Maja. In 2007 the Foundation also purchased a new, larger bus/van for the use of all OFRA residents for various outings. When Mauno Kaihla Koti was in need of an addition and renovations, the Foundation committed to help and raised $300,000.00 towards the project. The 'Friendship Rose Garden' is a special project of the Foundation. Anyone can buy a rose bush and/or an engraved granite stone to honor and remember a loved one.

THE MONTREAL GENERAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Montreal General Hospital Foundation is a founding partner of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). Its primary function is to raise funds for advancement and ongoing development of Montreal General Hospital services and facilities. Thanks to its generous donors, the Foundation can support advances in patient care, teaching and research. Over its 186 year history and with leading support from the community, the MGH has developed into one of the leading healthcare institutions in the country. Today, the Montreal General is a McGill University Teaching Hospital, one of only 2 Quebec Government designated Level 1 Trauma Centres and also Comprehensive-Care Cancer Centre. Current projects include reconstruction of Gastroenterology Division, renovation of Palliative Care, construction of new Cardiac ICU and new Mental Health Inpatient facilities. Nearly $90 million has been invested by the MGH Foundation in the Hospital over the last 6 years.
