Working for Change (formerly the Ontario Council of Alternative Businesses) was established in 1994 to respond to the need for employment opportunities for people with mental health issues. Since then we have developed six social enterprises that provide employment to people with mental health issues. Pennies For Pediatrics is a campaign to raise approximately $100,000 on behalf of pediatric services at Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN). Pennies For Pediatrics began as a six-month campaign, launched in May of 2012. The Pennies For Pediatrics campaign is now being extended, following the federal government decision to keep the penny in circulation until February, 2013 The goal of the Pennies for Pediatrics campaign is to raise funds for a therapeutic Snoezelen® Pool. A Snoezelen® Pool is specially equipped with lighting and other sensory stimulation equipment. It is used primarily for the treatment of children with autism and other developmental conditions. The existing therapeutic pool at HSN will be retrofitted with the necessary equipment to allow it to function as a Snoezelen® Pool. The pool will also be available for treatment of adults with developmental conditions. The major co-sponsors of the Pennies For Pediatrics campaign are RBC Royal Bank and Vale.

Cribs for Kids works to prevent infant sleep‑related deaths by teaching parents and caregivers safe‑sleep practices and by providing portable cribs and safe‑sleep kits to families who otherwise lack a safe place for their babies to sleep. The organization also supports partner/hospital training and offers bereavement resources for families affected by infant loss.
