THE MILTON DISTRICT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Incorporated in 1980, the Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF) was founded to assist Milton District Hospital in funding new and replacement equipment needs and community education programs. The Foundation serves as the primary philanthropic arm for the Milton District Hospital and is responsible for generating and administering all charitable gifts for the Hospital. A Board of Directors comprised of business and civic leaders in the community governs the Milton District Hospital Foundation.

THE HEART OF HASTINGS HOSPICE

The Heart of Hastings Hospice provides community-based volunteer in-home and residential service in the Municipalities of Centre Hastings, Marmora & Lake, Tweed, Tudor & Cashel, and the Townships o Madoc and Stirling-Rawdon. The Heart of Hastings Hospice is dedicated to meeting the needs of individuals and their families who are facing the terminal phase of illness, as well as offering bereavement support to family/caregivers following the death of a loved one. The Heart of Hastings Hospice is a non-profit organization partially funded by the government, but depends on donations and fundraising to meet budget requirements.

Street Haven at the Crossroads

Established in 1965, Street Haven was one of the first shelters for women in Toronto. We are dedicated to providing help and support to women in need. We serve women who are abused, homeless, socially isolated and those living in poverty as well as women who come from abusive situations or have mental health, alcoholism and/or addiction challenges. We provide emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, a drop-in centre & food program, addiction case management, residential addictions programs, education programs and recreational/social opportunities. Women who use our services find ways to improve the quality of their lives.

The Alex Community Health Centre

The Alex is a not-for-profit organization that has been in existence since 1973. The Alex provides services and programs to individuals and families who experience barriers to health. Using a multidisciplinary team approach, we focus care on assessment, intervention and promotion of all aspects of health. We embrace a model of healthcare that is accessible, responsive and participatory. The Alex has grown to now include 6 major programs at 3 different locations. Services and programs are provided at the Family Health Centre, the Seniors' Health Centre, the Community Health Bus, Pathways to Housing, the Youth Health Centre and HomeBase. DURHAM OUTLOOK FOR THE NEEDY

Durham Outlook for the Needy is a non-profit organization started in 1990 by local Oshawa residents that operates St. Vincent Pallotti Kitchen. The Kitchen strives to offer a daily meal in a dignified manner to the needy in our community. We exist and operate with no government funding, an only with the generous donations from caring individuals and corporations we are able to carry out our Mission. The Kitchen served its one millionth meal in August 2010.
