The Association of Ontario’s Health Centres (AOHC) is Ontario’s voice for community-governed primary health care. We represent over 108 community-governed primary health care organizations. Our membership includes Ontario’s Community Health Centres, Aboriginal Health Access Centres, Community Family Health Teams and Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics. We share a strong commitment to advance health equity and recognize that access to the highest attainable standard of health is a fundamental human right. Our member centres work hand in hand with those they serve. Each is governed by a board made up of clients, community members, health providers and community leaders. Community governance enables health services to be more easily oriented towards what community members identify as their most important needs.

We provide safe, affordable, decent home ownership to deserving families in Barrie and South Simcoe. Our Restore recycles usable building products and materials diverting more than 40 tons of waste each year. Low-income families complete 500 hours of sweat equity toward their home and pay a no interest mortgage. They become tax-payers and engaged community citizens. Our ReStores and building projects engage more than 400 volunteers every year including students, Ontario Works participants, volunteers through the justice system and other community minded individuals. Thanks to Restore revenues, 100% of donations go directly to helping families in need get a hand up not a hand out.
Habitat for Humanity Regina builds homes in parthership with low-income, working families. We provide capital, not charity, which is provided to families through long-term, interest-free mortgages. Habitat partner families contribute 500 hours of their time toward construction and other projects. Families earn long-term equity through our program and become tax-paying, contributing citizens of the community. Mortgage payments help finance construction of more Habitat homes through the revolving build fund. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore operates to pay 100% of the adminsitrative costs of Habitat Regina, allowing 100% of donated funds to be directed to building homes for deserving families.
Each year, with the support of our volunteers, staff and donors, we offer 500 young people with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions the opportunity to attend our camp and to just be a kid. The barriers and limitations that our Campers may experience day to day are all but eliminated thanks to our fully accessible facility and our specially trained staff and volunteers. The activities our campers can take part in include horseback riding, high and low ropes course, a climbing wall, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery, arts and crafts and much, much more.
We believe that: 1. Nutrition is a fundamental determinant of healthy child development, i.e. physical, social, emotional and intellectual. 2. Good nutrition positively affects a child's ability to learn. 3. Student Nutrition Programs should provide equitable access to the most nutritious foods possible. 4. The community has a collective responsibility for the well-being of our children.
On Guard for Humanity was formed out of recognition that when major natural and man-made disasters occur, much needed help arrives too late and tends to be disproportionate to local needs at the time of delivery (wrong materiel, wrong time, and wrong place). We believe that local community–based prevention and disaster mitigation programs are less costly and more effective. On Guard for Humanity seeks to train and equip these communities to protect themselves from natural and man-made disasters, through the creation of local disaster mitigation and response centers. On Guard for Humanity underwrites the capital and operating costs of these centers, rather than providing financial aid directly to communities to spend as they see fit. In this way On Guard for Humanity insures that its objectives, and those of the donors who support On Guard for Humanity are met.
Halton Food for Thought is the only agency to offer Student Nutrition Programs in Halton schools. Because one in ten Halton students do not have enough food to sustain them throughout the school day, our programs are needed to ensure all students have access to the healthy food that is necessary to learn and grow. From before school breakfast programs to high school meal card programs, we work with each school to ensure the needs of their students are met. While we cannot eliminate poverty or hunger, we can ensure children and youth have access to the healthy food that will give them the best chance for educational success.
