Kevin Gibbons and Carolyne Ariokot started Health Access Connect based on the need for antiretroviral treatment (ART) and other health services that they witnessed in fishing villages on Lake Victoria. Many people fail to get health services because it’s too expensive and difficult to travel to the nearest facility. We said, “There must be a way to address this problem!” HAC came from that initial need that we learned from the communities, and our programs are all designed to serve our mission to link Ugandans living in remote areas with healthcare resources. Over time we have worked with health workers to integrate more services, including malaria treatment, vaccinations, perinatal care, child checkups, and family planning.

We seek out the most innovative, broad-based public health solutions that are backed by science and research, move them into the mainstream dialogue, and build momentum for change. Our goal is to address the most pressing health issues and improve people's wellbeing, one policy at a time.

TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE OF WASHINGTON STATE. IN 2014, WHF MADE THE DIFFICULT DECISION TO END ITS PERSONAL HEALTH ADVOCATE PROGRAM AND OTHER ACTIVITIES AND ESSENTIALLY SUSPENDED OPERATIONS AS THE BOARD EVALUATED ITS OPTIONS. IN 2015, THE BOARD CONTINUED TO ASSESS ITS FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES AND ALSO CONCLUDED THAT IT WAS BEST TO ALLOW ANY POSSIBLE PAST CONTINGENT LIABILITIES TO BE IDENTIFIED AND SATISFIED BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. THE FOUNDATION BOARD HAS NOT IDENTIFIED ANY SUCH LIABILITIES BUT HAS DECIDED TO MAINTAIN ITS CURRENT LIMITED APPROACH FOR ANOTHER YEAR OR TWO. ACTIVITY IS CURRENTLY LIMITED TO COMMUNICATING ITS PAST ACHIEVEMENTS AND LEGACY THROUGH ITS WEBSITE WWW.WHF.ORG

FAIMH works to strengthen and support Florida’s infant and early childhood mental‑health workforce so professionals can better promote nurturing relationships for babies and young children (before birth and beyond). The organization provides training, endorsement credentials, and chapter support to improve caregivers’ and services’ capacity to foster healthy social‑emotional development.

Hip Hop Public Health creates research-based educational resources by harnessing the power of music and culture to improve health in communities that are underserved. Our vision is to achieve universal health literacy and health equity.
