Founded in 2009, The Grassroot Project (TGP) uses the power of sports and the platform of athlete role models to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth to live healthy lives. We are a team of more than 1,000 NCAA varsity athletes and 5,000 DC teens who are committed to making our city healthier. The Grassroot Project capitalizes on the excitement, relatability, and popularity of sports to provide much-needed health literacy and social empowerment programs to DC teens. The only way for us to succeed is to believe in the power of youth to make a difference. In addition to providing health education to DC teens, we invest in the leadership training, cultural competency, and professional skills of hundreds of NCAA varsity athletes who serve as our program facilitators. Founded in 1817, the American School for the Deaf is the country's oldest and Connecticut's only educational organization exclusively devoted to serving the deaf community. A private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, ASD provides comprehensive educational services for deaf and deaf with special needs infants, children, youth, adults and their families. The school is located on a 54-acre, 14-building campus in West Hartford, Connecticut. The mission of the American School for the Deaf is to provide a comprehensive program for the development of the intellect and the enhancement of the quality of life for the deaf and hard of hearing community by serving as a multi-purpose institution furnishing educational and vocational programs for deaf children, youth, adults and their families.

The Kendall Burrows Foundation was founded by the Deb and Dave Burrows to honor the memory of their daughter, Kendall, who passed away from Evan’s Syndrome in 1996. During her lifetime, Kendall was an inspiration for how she lived with grace and strength despite intermittent and sometimes lengthy hospital stays. She stands for all children who must face incredible odds and yet do so with a smile on their face.

Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind is dedicated to helping the visually impaired and blind population of the greater Washington region overcome the challenges of vision loss.  Our work enables people of all ages who are visually impaired or blind to remain independent, active, and productive in our society. We help people with vision loss live independently to fulfill their life's purposes.  We do this by providing comprehensive services and programs for people of all ages ( for children, adults and seniors, etc.) including employment, training, vision care, recreation and advocacy.
