The mission of The Women's Home is to build communities that strengthen women and support families as they reclaim their stability. The Women's Home has worked to build whole lives in the Houston area since our creation in 1957. Our services focus on vulnerable households with a special emphasis on women and families. We have four unique programs -- a residential treatment program located near downtown, and two permanent housing programs and a collaborative service center in Spring Branch -- that offer tailored housing, behavioral health care, and wrap around support services to help women, children, and families build resilient lives.
Founded in 1996, this community based organization provides health care services through its legacy namesake, The James A. Watson Wellness Center. The non-profit charity foundation, Preventive Care Pathways, also provides educational outreach to underserved and/or marginalized communities throughout the Bay Area. Our goal is to decrease the disparities in health care services, education and mortality outcomes among those most marginalized or underserved through culturally sensitive care and education. We seek to start at the beginning, with the Youth of our community and "Keep Youth Alive" and firmly believe that "Art Saves Lives". The primary function of Preventive Care Pathways in serving the community is to bring together the resources that are most beneficial to our youth followed by incorporating Youth and their needs within the community of Adults in business and medicine, and especially in science, technology, reading, engineering, arts and mathematics or, in short, "S.T.R.E.A.M." "Remember, your health is your wealth and if you knew better you would do better! (c)". So we move to bring all of the educational instruments to our Youth and those who are there to support them, starting with our Youth in Arts Project. Please give generously and give frequently. Every amount helps. Thank you.
Wigs for Kids provides hair replacement systems to children under the age of 18 who have lost their hair as a result of medical treatments, health conditions, or burn accidents. When children lose their hair, whether as a result of medical treatments, health conditions or burn accidents, they don't just suffer physically. The change in their appearance can drastically undermine their self-image and sabotage their self-esteem. To help heal the pain of these struggles, Certified Cosmetic Therapist Jeffrey Paul founded Wigs for Kids, a nonprofit organization that has been serving children suffering from hair loss since 1981. Wigs for Kids is a cooperative effort among Certified Cosmetic Therapists throughout North America who share a common goal. “Children shouldn’t have to worry about how they look, especially when they’re in the middle of a health crisis,” says Jeffrey Paul. “We want to give these kids the opportunity to feel good about themselves again.” The value of all children’s wigs Hair Replacements is $1,800. “These are custom-made Hair Replacements,” says Jeffrey Paul. “Each prosthesis is hand-tied and is made completely from human hair. We make sure they look just like a child’s own hair.” “They won’t come off on the baseball field or in the playground,” he adds. “Kids can count on them. And because kids look just the way they did before, they feel better about themselves. They look in the mirror and their eyes light up. To see that light in their eyes … that’s priceless.”

Prevention First was incorporated in 1967 as the Central Jersey council on alcoholism. Over the years, the focus changed to the prevention of alcohol abuse and expanded to include other drugs and other forms of abuse (dating/relationship abuse, gang violence and bullying). To best reflect what the agency does and emphasize its importance, the name was ultimately changed to Prevention First. In 2013, we became an affiliate of preferred behavioral health group. Prevention First’s services are targeted to those in grades K–12 and provided during and after school by a staff of professional educators who are dedicated to the success of their students. Programs are proven, age-specific and include the tools, skills and support necessary for students to develop and maintain healthy, abuse-free relationships and lives. In addition, Prevention First educates parents, caregivers, businesses, law enforcement and community groups, provides on-site and online training for school personnel, conferences and workshops for prevention professionals and programs implemented through community outreach and the prevention coalition of Monmouth county.
