At Salt & Light we believe that holy yoga, fitness, proper nutrition, and spirituality will change the world. With 25,000 women and girls falling prey to trafficking every year in Chicago alone, we manifest change by providing a volunteer-driven, one-year long program for survivors of trafficking with the dual goal of healing and empowering women to get jobs in the wellness sector.

Our organization was founded in 2012 to serve Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, Baltimore City/County, and Prince George’s County, Maryland. We are a 501 C3 charitable organization. Our mission is to heal, empower and rebuild the lives of women and children impacted by domestic violence by providing educational programs and support services. We also strive to educate and empower young girls in high-risk communities.

YWCA Evanston/North Shore is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities. We are a social justice organization that works in the areas of: racial justice and civil rights women's empowerment and economic advancement health and safety of women and girls we do this through: direct service education, training and outreach advocacy We empower thousands of individuals to transform their lives and make our communities more just and equitable for all its members. Jesse’s House is a home for adolescent girls who have been removed from conditions of abuse, or adverse circumstances in order to secure their safety and well-being. In addition to providing shelter and basic care, we ensure the medical, dental, and mental health needs of each resident are evaluated, and appropriate services are provided in order to maintain their physical and mental health. We also provide academic support and life skills development to help them achieve academic success and prepare them for independent, adult life. In essence, we strive to serve as a counterbalance to the trauma and neglect they have experienced in order to help guide them through their present challenges, and their years beyond Jesse’s House.

To model to our rescued girls in Peru what a happy and healthy family is like. To provide for them love - in addition to the emotional, psychological, and physical security that they did not have before arriving to us. To provide for them a good education so that they can become agents of change for their society, culture, and world. Most importantly: We serve to be an expression of God’s heart towards the children He gives us. His heart is expressed very well in Psalm 68, verses 5 and 6 – “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families…” We consider it a privilege to be used of Him to provide a family for the children and youth that He has placed into our hands.
