Waterkeeper Alliance

Founded in 1999 by environmental attorney and activist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and several veteran Waterkeepers, Waterkeeper Alliance is a global movement of on-the-water advocates who patrol and protect over 100,000 miles of rivers, streams and coastlines in North and South America, Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa. Waterkeepers defend their communities against anyone who threatens their right to clean water - from law-breaking polluters to unresponsive government agencies. Made up of nearly 200 local Waterkeeper organizations, Waterkeeper Alliance keeps Waterkeepers connected, provides them with legal, scientific and communications support, and unites their voices as they take on major global water issues together.

We do this through education, nutrition, conservation and capacity building. Our work focuses upon 3 key objectives: awareness, impact and empowerment. The aim is to create awareness of global issues, have a direct impact on those issues locally and empower our alumni, be they volunteers, donors, staff or community members, to continue impacting local issues on a global level.

Corals for Conservation

Corals for Conservation (C4C) addresses poverty-driven coral reef decline by developing sustainable, community-appropriate enterprises designed to shift the burden away from over-used and depleted fisheries resources. C4C promotes "coral gardeners" as new profession for resorts, providing employment and added value to the industry while contributing to coral reef conservation and restoration. We recognize that if people and industry are major parts of the problem then they are also major parts of the solution.

Kickstart Kids International

Mission: We are a charitable organisation working to kickstart the lives of vulnerable children in Kenya through locally-led sustainable development. Key Principles: Kickstart Kids International is an entirely volunteer run, not for profit, non-government development organisation. In everything that we do, our primary goal is empowerment - to provide support to local communities that will help them to help themselves. We achieve this in three ways: Best practice quality of care for orphaned and disadvantaged children - partnering with globally recognised leaders who share our passion for providing children with the best possible Kickstart in life. Financial sustainability - utilising a profit for purpose model, we provide local communities with income streams to fund the operations of social projects.
