Honor Flight San Diego (HFSD) is a non-profit branch of the nationwide Honor Flight Network which consists of over 130 independent “hubs” across America. HFSD escorts veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials using monies donated by individuals, foundations, associations, business owners and corporations who wish to recognize our veterans’ contributions and thank them for their service and sacrifice to the United States and its citizens.

Our effort focuses on WWII veterans as the primary group with secondary emphasis on Korean and Viet Nam veterans. Due to the senior age of these heroes coupled with the prediction that nationally we are losing hundreds daily, we are committed to do all within our power to make this dream a reality.

Honor Flight Connecticut proudly joins with 131 other Honor Flight Hubs in 45 other states sharing in that same mission.

Through recreational therapy, they provide an outlet for adventure as well as the unique comradery and connection that all veterans share. With a wide array of therapy options, they customize each session to the veteran’s specific needs and desires. They connect veterans with a network of resources, including hunting and fishing guides, healthcare specialists, job placement and training experts, and professional counselors, all at no expense to the veteran.

The mission of the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center is to assist our local honorably discharged veterans with job placement, filing claims with the Veterans Administration, help those veterans who find themselves in deep financial difficulty, and to temporarily shelter those veterans who are homeless until permanent housing can be secured. In order to accomplish these goals, we will seek out all available resources within the community, and bring a better awareness to the sacrifices our military veterans have endured to provide safety and security for the United States of America.
