Edu Girls

Edu-GIRLS seeks to address the unique challenges to delivering education to girls created by social and gender bias in poverty affected households. In such households, with both parents trying to earn a living, girls are often held back from school to take care of the household or look after younger siblings or even to add to the meager family income through menial work. Edu-GIRLS approach customizes delivery methods to achieve success in such a setting, where few resources are devoted to the girl child. We do not stop at increased primary enrollment. We do not stop at achieving high rates of high school completion. We extend ourselves to ensure that girls have acquired skills for good jobs.We go all the way to financial independence.

Girls Justice League

The Girls Justice League seeks to change the directional so that girls are directly impacting the systems that hold such enormous power over their futures. All too often, girls, young women and those who identify as female, particularly girls of color and those from low income communities, find the direction of their lives impacted and dictated by myriad systems and institutions, including juvenile justice, public education, workforce development, public health and human services, and child welfare. The Girls Justice League is a collective of young women and their allies working to build and reinforce a culture where girls are fully empowered and where gender, race, and other disparities are identified and confronted in the systems that affect their futures.

Global Girls Inc.

Global Girls mission is to equip girls of color with skills that nurture their individual growth and inspire them to use their talents for positive change in their communities and throughout the world. We provide a safe space where participants learn performance, communication and social/emotional skills. Our curriculum is grounded in positive youth development best practices stemming from research in child and adolescent development. The overwhelming consensus is that youth need the following key assets to thrive and become healthy productive adults: 1. Safe environment 2. Supportive environment 3. Interaction 4. Engagement 5. Youth-centered policies and practices 6. High expectations The lessons helps youth develop critical thinking skills as they investigate their issues and seek solutions. Each program participant acquires dance, acting and story crafting skills while also reinforcing essential habits such as resiliency, empathy, self-discipline and grit. The result is socially conscious, youth-driven theatre that gives voice to participant's issues and concerns.
