Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place

The council delivers the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls across Washington, D.C., and nearby Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia counties—running troop programs, camps, community-service and outdoor education to develop leadership, confidence, and practical skills. The council also supports volunteers and families and provides services (e.g., camps, shops, financial assistance) to expand access.

Arts on the Block, a nonprofit arts organization with a nearly 20-year history in the region, is the only hands-on studio art apprenticeship program in the region offering youth and young adults the opportunity to learn about art, design, and business by engaging in real-world public art commissions. We recruit, train, place, and support youth and young adults with art and design aptitudes who might not ordinarily be introduced to entry-level jobs and career paths in the creative industries. AOB apprentices join one of our existing studio crews led by master teaching artists and supported by a team of management professionals. AOB crew members work their way up through summer intensives and year-round projects to produce large-scale mosaic public art. Along the way, they receive customized professional skills training, connect with our creative network, and pursue individualized plans for success in creative careers.

The mission of The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City is two-fold: first, to give voice to neglected and new works of the African-American experience in the American Theatre Canon. Secondly, to engage youth of the urban core in the theatre arts and through mentorship, internship, and scholarship.

The mission of Communities In Schools Dallas Region is to help students at risk of failure stay in school, achieve academically and graduate, to become productive and contributing members of our communities. CISDR works right on the school campus every day, all day, one on one with struggling students to stay in school and succeed.  CISDR connects these students and families to community resources/services through its strong partnerships with school districts, educators, corporations, institutions of higher learning, government agencies, faith based and community organizations.
