Defy’s mission is to change mindsets to give people with criminal histories their best shot at a second chance. Defy’s vision is to reduce recidivism by 50% by leveraging entrepreneurship as a tool to increase economic opportunity and transform lives. They work to transform the skillsets and mindsets of currently and formerly incarcerated adults as well as the hearts and minds of the business community in support of a common thesis that people with a criminal history deserve a fair chance to reenter society and fulfill their potential.

The Merriman’s Culinary Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)3 organization established over 20 years ago. Its primary mission is to pay tuition to culinary schools for Hawaii residents in need. In light of the West Maui fires, all donations to MCSF for the next 6 months will go directly to feed the people of west Maui and provide support to our team members who lost their homes or are in especially challenging financial situations due to the fire in Lahaina on August 8, 2023.

After vetting our partners to make sure they meet our grant-making criteria, the most important thing we do is LISTEN.  We never go into a community and tell them their school needs a library or their children need better food or cleaner water – we let them tell us what they need, and we listen as they explain what impact fulfilling that need will have.  We then brainstorm with them about the best way forward.  They know best the needs of their community and we want to help them achieve their dreams and goals.  That’s why the projects we support vary greatly – because the needs and priorities of children are different everywhere we GO. In addition to giving these children the opportunities they deserve, our mission is also to give our donors, people like you, the opportunity to connect and make a difference.  We give you the chance to donate to the project of your choice, to receive follow-up reports on progress, and even go and visit a project if you can.  You are part of the solution equation, and by cutting out the red tape and waste associated with many of the larger aid organizations, we present you with the opportunity to have lasting impact on children’s lives. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and Western New York grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. As a chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, we are determined to fulfill the mission set at the national headquarters of the foundation in our locale.

To turn sad people into happy people by producing fundraising events for our mental health services partners, (such as Give An Hr.org) who provide therapy sessions for our vets, victims of PTSD and/or anyone in need of mental health services.
