BCSS Victoria was formed in 1984 and is the largest branch of the BC Schizophrenia Society with over 300 members. The branch operates programs and services for family members and those with schizophrenia, such as: family counselling and peer support, a reference library, respite care, consumer peer support, public education through our Partnership Presentations, and the Memorial (scholarship) Fund. The Victoria Branch of BCSS is supported by the United Way, private donations, fundraising activities and Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA).

Everyone deserves the help & respect they need to recover. We listen, support recovery, fight stigma & work with partners to take action. We provide services for adults, children & young people, signposting for everyone & training & consultancy for employers.

Since its founding in 1972, the Helen Ross McNabb Foundation has worked diligently to support the work of the McNabb Center. In addition to providing leadership and direction, the Foundation’s staff and 26-member volunteer board actively raises, holds and invests funds on behalf of the Center. Funds raised by the Foundation over the years have contributed greatly toward the stability and growth of the Center. The Foundation raises funds through several avenues.

SSO raises awareness and support to improve the lives of individuals in Ontario who are impacted by schizophrenia and psychosis. A diagnosis of schizophrenia reaches beyond the individual with the illness. It also impacts friends and family who provide a crucial support network. SSO is committed to helping all Ontarians understand the facts related to this illness. Stigma and misinformation about the illness are prevalent and can stand in the way of people living the full and meaningful lives they deserve. The SSO helps people to understand schizophrenia which dispels the myths. PEACE OF MINDS The Peace of Minds campaign – a fundraising and awareness initiative – reflects the fact that a diagnosis of schizophrenia changes so many lives. It touches not only the person with the diagnosis, but all the important people in their lives. It’s truly a community illness and demands a community response. The campaign initiatives support individuals with the illness and their families.

All of us at Umbrella have struggled – or watched a loved one struggle – with addiction. We have a profound respect for this complex and confounding illness. We’ve been there. That’s where we learned the value of understanding, nonjudgmental acceptance, and support. If you’re feeling frightened and alone, confused and overwhelmed by substance use issues, we can help.

Just ‘B’ is a specialist bereavement support and emotional wellbeing service helping children, young people and adults across the communities of North Yorkshire, as well as offering specialist support regionally and nationally.
