Our mission is to use the human-animal bond to comfort the lonely, ease the pain of the sick and enrich the world of at-risk children. In normal times, our 500+ gentle, friendly dogs, with their volunteer handlers, make 2,000+ visits a year to hospitals, nursing homes, jails, schools, libraries and more. During the pandemic, our dogs and handlers listen to and encourage children as they read aloud on Zoom.

PFD is led and run by adults with learning disabilities. With skilled staff support, we can make and sustain friendships in our local community; learn about our rights; and develop our ability to speak up and address the inequalities we experience, in order to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

We have no staff or offices. Everything given to People & Wildlife Ghana is passed on to brilliant local charities which do so much for people and wildlife in this beautiful West African country.
