The heart of Winnipeg’s newcomer community is Central Park. And the heart of Central Park is Knox Church. Knox has been an integral part of the revitalization of the neighbourhood and the restoration of the park itself, through initiatives such as Central Market for Global Families and the Rainbow Community Garden. Now we are pleased to announce the creation of a new, 24-hour accessible commercial kitchen, which, when completed, will be available for community members to use to develop and expand on catering opportunities that might otherwise be cost prohibitive. Additional programs will include nutrition and cooking classes for women, men and youth, and cultural dinners. To date we have raised over $350,000 through generous grants from:The WPG Foundation,CPP(Province of MB),The City of WPG, CentreVenture, Blannerhassett Foundation and MB Community Services Council. But we are not quite at our goal! Another $50,000 will allow us to complete this valuable commercial kitchen.
