Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust began by running a one weeksummer holiday for children with special needs. The Trust now providesholidays for about 130 children with special needs aged four to sixteen eachyear, in various locations around the UK. Due to the high level of skilledcare they require or financial circumstances, the children selected forthese breaks would not otherwise receive a holiday. The holidays provide arange of fun activities in a safe and supportive environment and use a careration of one helper to one child at all times.The Trust is an entirely voluntary organization and owes its success to over200 people who dedicate their free time to helping these children. Thisvoluntary structure ensures that every penny raised goes directly towards achild's holiday.
