DRA's mission is to advance equal rights and opportunity for people with all types of disabilities nationwide. DRA was established in 1993 and has grown to become one of the leading non-profit organizations that advances the rights of individuals with disabilities through impact litigation. DRA is renowned for implementing systemic change in critical areas that affect the daily lives of people with disabilities--health care, transportation, housing, education and employment. DRA fulfills its mission through free legal representation, education and outreach to our constituency. Using structured negotiations, high-impact, class-action litigation, community education and collaboration, regulatory advocacy, and media, DRA helps exert pressure for reform, while simultaneously offering constructive remedies for compliance with law. While DRA primarily serves residents with disabilities in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, it's impact can be felt throughout California and the nation.

The NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund was established by the NRA Board of Directors in 1978 to become involved in court cases establishing legal precedents in favor of gun owners. To accomplish this, the Fund provides legal and financial assistance to selected individuals and organizations defending their right to keep and bear arms. Additionally, the Fund sponsors legal research and education on a wide variety of firearms-related issues, including the meaning of the Second Amendment and nature of the right to keep and bear arms provisions in state constitutions.
