On December 3, 2020, Equality Now hosted its annual gala online to help raise money to support their overall mission of protecting and promoting women's and girls’ human rights. Featuring celebrities such as Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, Karamo Brown, Jameela Jamil, Aubrey Plaza, & Margaret Atwood, this star-studded event was able to raise nearly $30,000 for the organization. The event also featured a tribute to the late Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, along with various recognitions to changemakers in the fight for women’s equality.
The gala, which was streamed on both their website and YouTube, was the first of its kind for Equality Now, and well exceeded their fundraising expectations.
By partnering with Pledgeling, their team was able to utilize Pledgeling’s products, including text-to-donate, the online fundraiser page, along with the virtual donation overlay on Zoom, which tracked and displayed the total donations raised in real time.
Given the significant effects of the pandemic, Equality Now noted how crucial it was to host a successful virtual event that would help to achieve two goals: first, raise awareness of the increased threats to the safety of women and girls caused by the pandemic; and second, raise funds to support their programs during a year of increased financial pressure when traditional modes of fundraising weren’t an option.
Thanks to their powerful content and line-up for this event, paired with the simplicity and effectiveness of Pledgeling’s fundraising products, they were able to collect donations through this virtual event that will have life-changing impact on women & girls around the world.
You can watch the entire event here. Thank you to all of those that participated and the Equality Now team for being part of the #PledgeToDoGood!
