Pledge to make a difference, together.
The Anthony Bates Foundation (ABF) believes that no parent should suffer the heartbreak of losing a child to an undiagnosed cardiac malady; we seek to eliminate preventable Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).
While hosting an ABF Heart Screening in Chandler, a sports med doc found me at the event to let me know when we screened his sons 4 years ago at ACP in Chandler. Incidentally, we found an issue with one of the boys. He went on to explain it took a few months to follow-up on the findings from the heart screening due to an urgent surgery for his son as they had discovered a brain tumor. When his son healed from that event, dad did the heart screening follow-up, only to discover his son had a serious issue with his heart that also needed surgery. He said, " Sharon you saved my son's life!" Well, I got all misty-eyed and hugged him. This is why we do the screenings. Anyone could be our next SAVE!
On his way to a soccer game in Sept. 2014, Sam's mother brought him to our ABF Heart Screening event in North Phoenix. Turns out Sam was found to have a serious heart condition called WPW (Wolfe-Parkinsons-White) that could lead to a Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Sam didn't make it to his soccer game that day. One month later, Sam had his heart fixed. He is now a senior in college and enjoying life because of the Anthony Bates Foundation screening!
