Our Mission

We equip and empower homeless or imminently homeless young adults with the skills and support they need to be safe and self-supporting.

The Haven Project is dedicated specifically to providing age appropriate services to a growing, vulnerable 17-24 year old homeless young adult population north of Boston. We implement our mission through six essential focus areas: basic needs, employment, housing, education, health, and community engagement.

"L" is an intelligent and highly accomplished young adult who has been working tirelessly to achieve her dreams and goals. She is determined to succeed, whether it’s touring the Biotech Program facilities, passing her interview to join the Biotech Academy, obtaining all the necessary documents to be able to move into her own apartment at The Haven's new housing project, doing her due diligence, or continuously seeking and applying advice to build a better future for herself. "The Haven program has been a part of my life since high school. As a young adult, I struggled for many years, living on my own without parental support. The Haven program provided me with a community that showed up for me every single day. Each individual helped me build character and share my blessings with others. In a world where many feel overlooked, I was seen."

The Haven Project is so proud of the progress "R" and "R" have made during their time with us! Together, they have secured a part-time job and an apartment, they regularly attend weekly Drop-In Center hours where they can connect with young adults in a similar situation, and have showcased their art at our Youth Homelessness Forum & Art Exhibit. "The Haven Project has given me a life I didn't think I'd ever be able to live, not only do I have a job and my own apartment with the love of my life but I get to be a part of something. The drops in feel like it's given me a chance to socialize in a way I never thought I would, having grown up very isolated from the outside world. I feel like I'm apart of a family rather than just getting resources I need. I love all the case managers very much, they have made me believe in good people again, they have taught me so much and I feel very lucky to have them looking out for me." "Before Haven, I didn't know much beyond the abuse and trauma I've endured. These past 8 months, The Haven Project has made me feel nothing but loved, uplifted, and genuinely supported. Things I never imagined I'd ever experience. It's been truly surreal, and I'm so grateful to be a client. My life is completely turning around thanks to them, and I don't think I'll ever be able to put into words how much it means to me. I don't just need to survive anymore, because they taught me how to live."

"The Haven Project became a big support system for me back in 2024. With their help I applied to the Gloucester Biotechnology Academy. Thanks to them, I am now completing my internship at Mass General Hospital where I am working on the development of surrogate biological markers for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy from extracellular vesicles.”
