This is Max. Max is a husband, a father, an academic scholar and a Marine Corps Raider. He is 33-years old and over a 12-year time period he deployed over six times to countries in both the Middle East and Africa. In May, Max noticed an odd growth under his eyelid, he was diagnosed with MALT Lymphoma and underwent radiation, shortly after he was diagnosed with an additional cancer on top of the lymphoma; Papillary Thyroid cancer. His immune system was triggered by (most likely) like radiation or cancer cell proliferation. This autoimmune issue caused cyclical fevers of 102-105 degrees - a deadly temperature for an adult. His amazing medical team at MD Anderson found an off-label drug that subsided 90% of Max’s symptoms - however, Tricare denied its approval, twice. Max had told us what had happened and we said no questions asked we’d cover his lifesaving drug, Kineret for $3,200 a month while we worked with his team to get his medication approved. His doctor from MD Anderson called us, and was so humbled that the tribe came together for Max, he was speechless. Along with providing travel for HBOT treatment in Florida! Max is on his way to recovery. The moral of this story is, on your toughest, most painful days, we are here for you. From the words of Marine Corps Special Operations: Never Above You, Never Below You, Always Beside You.
