Pledge to make a difference, together.
Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC) is the only not-for-profit independent English language arts organization producing professional theatre with its own facility and a subscription season in our city, servicing the national capital region.
GCTC was founded in 1975 by a group of professors and graduate students at Carleton University. For several years, it was entirely volunteer-run.
In 1982, with the support from the City of Ottawa and 700 people, GCTC claimed its own permanent home at 910 Gladstone Avenue by transforming a truck repair garage into a 230-seat theatre. In 2007, thanks to the $2.5 million dollar donation from the family of the late Irving Greenberg, GCTC moved to its new facility with a 262-seat main stage theatre, a studio theatre, and 2 spacious lobbies.
More than 35,000 people visit the Irving Greenberg Theatre Centre every year to see productions by GCTC and other live performing arts companies, as well as to rent our facilities and for more.
