Romero House is a community of four houses and a neighbourhood centre in the area north of high park and south of the “junction”, in the west end of Toronto . We provide transitional housing to our residents, as well as drop in settlement services to any refugees that walk through the door.
These services include assistance with refugee claim process and legal aspects; help with finding and retaining housing, emotional and social support, practical items such as furniture and clothing and variety of community building activities. Staff and interns live with our residents as neighbours and companions, seeking to realise our vision of accompaniment in their daily life and work. The community this forms sets Romero House apart from most shelters and allows us to welcome refugees with open arms and hearts and provide the support they need to prosper in Canada.
