Pledge to make a difference, together.
Community First, founded by concerned Saskatoon organizations including the Churches, unions, businesses and individuals, launched in 2000 to provide a "hand up" rather than a hand out to clients with a plan to get out of poverty but lacking capital. We support small business start-ups, assisting with securing financing and with mentorship; we support other organizations working to provide affordable housing or meeting other community needs; and we work with youth in need of a hand up, to develop the skills and self-confidence to take ameaningful place in society. Currently we strongly support the fundraising of Station 20 West, we run a nationally-recognized program for at-risk high school youth to provide job skills and experience and financial literacy training and are supporting a number of small business start-ups, among other initiatives.
Community Economic Development with strong emphasis on social goals, in short, is our raison d'etre.
