Founded in 1995 by international child rights activist Craig Kielburger when he was only 12 years old, Free the Children has since impacted the lives of over 1 million youth in 45 countries through its innovative education and development programs. Free the Children is unlike any other children's charity in the world, as it is an organization created by, funded by, and heavily driven by children and youth. While young people remain the heart of the decision making of the organization, Free the Children has developed defined roles for adults who provide guidance, expertise, and financial and legal oversight.
