Pledge to make a difference, together.
Since its founding in 1979 the Foundation has focused on providing scholarships to emerging musicians in the greater Edmonton-area. During this time more than $700,000 has been provided to over 70 developing artists to support their post-secondary music studies. The Foundation is 100% volunteer operated and managed.
Dr. Anne Burrows, the Foundation’s founder, was a noted educator, journalist, broadcaster and music teacher. She served on the University of Alberta Senate and was awarded the Province of Alberta’s Achievement Award for Excellence in Music as well as an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta. Dr. Burrows is an inductee into the Edmonton Cultural Hall of Fame and the Order of Canada. After devoting a lifetime of encouragement and support for young musicians, Dr. Burrows, who passed away in 2007, continues to inspire the Anne Burrows Music Foundation to pursue providing scholarship awards to musical talents in Alberta’s Capital Region.
