Pledge to make a difference, together.
Since May 2000, Transatlantique Montréal, co-founded by Rafik Hubert Sabbagh (Montreal) and Thierry Gourmelen (Montpellier, France), has presented 11 events featuring 252 performances and 24 film screenings, 17 dance-themed visual art exhibits, and 57 conferences/meetings with the audience; 618 artists participated in these events over the years, 185 choreographic works were presented and 41 venues were employed, for a total of more than 45,000 spectators.
In 2013, Quartiers Danses took one more step forward in its involvement in the Montreal community by launching a cultural mediation pilot project. Twenty workshops were held, ahead of the festival, in various nursing homes, low-rent housing developments and community organizations so as to introduce our citizens to contemporary dance to foster contacts between artists and the community.
The festival team is anxious to extend this program for its 2014 edition as part of its mission to facilitate access to culture.
