Founded in 1984, IVOW supports Bar and Bat Mitzvah age children from Israel of bereaved families; parents who have lost their lives, or have been disabled while on military duty or who have been victims of terror. IVOW supports these children with a visit to Canada, providing them with a respite from the daily threat of terror, comfort and an opportunity to bond with their Canadian peers. It is a period of normalcy, which we as Canadians are so fortunate to enjoy.
These children face an inconceivably difficult childhood having experienced such a terrible loss. IVOW hosts these children during the summer, where they enjoy summer camp, then travel the Montreal & Toronto regions, visiting Ottawa, Kingston and Niagara Falls along the way.
Benefits of this program are priceless. The Israeli children are provided opportunity to create friendships with their Canadian counterparts. They bring their reality to our community, provide a sense and perspective of their daily lives in Israel.
