Pledge to make a difference, together.
The Lazarus Community Society is establishing small-scale community houses focused on specific needs arising within our community. We are creating a "live in" environment where one or two hosts share the home with residents. Such a setting provides structure, safety and emotional support while building a healthy lifestyle.
The Lazarus Community Society has established two houses: On July 1, 2004 we opened the Daniel House, a community home for men recovering from alcohol or drug addiction. It offers support, while allowing the residents independence. On November 1, 2006 we opened the Gilmore House, a house providing affordable, safe and supportive houseing for refugee claimants and low income immigrants.
The Lazarus Community Society does not have any paid staff. Core community members receive a reduction in their room and board and a small compensation. Other than these small costs, all the funds received go towards keeping room and board of the resident's low.
