The Calgary Workers' Resource Centre (CWRC) helps workers who live or work in the Calgary area to understand and access the rights and benefits they are entitled to under employment-related legislation in Alberta. Services are available at no charge to clients, most of whom come from marginalized populations (immigrants, Temporary Foreign Workers, Aboriginal workers, persons with disabilities, youths, etc.). The CWRC has two core programs -- its Case Work program, and the Employment Rights, Obligations and Benefits Education program (workshops).
The Case Work program provides workers with information and support related to: . Employment Insurance . Alberta Employment Standards . Alberta Human Rights Act (employment-related discrimination) . Alberta Workers' Compensation Act . CPP disability . employer short and long term disability
The CWRC has helped workers in the Calgary area become entitled to upwards of $4,000,000 (total)in benefits and unpaid earnings since 2006.
