Manitoba Association of Women's Shelters Inc. (MAWS) provides a valuable link between Manitoba shelters and you. Shelters are inherently private and exist quietly in an attempt to ensure the safety and confidentiality of their clients. Often times that privacy means shelters are forgotten but they need your help too. Donations are always accepted as either financial assistance or items such as gently used clothes, toiletries and sometimes household furniture. In the 1980's, women's shelters in Manitoba worked together to provide support, training, information and improved services for clients. In 1991 MAWS incorporated as the Manitoba Association of Women's Shelters. MAWS members are dedicated to advancing and maintaining the well being of women and children in abusive situations.
