Our Mission

The Guelph Giants Special Hockey Foundation is a program composed of intellectually disabled athletes and we are entering our 6th season with over 40 athletes registered. Giants’ players are given the opportunity to play and be a part of a hockey team regardless of disability, gender or even their ability to skate. This team endeavours to give a sense of community involvement to persons who in the past only been able to watch from the sidelines. The experience gives the players a chance to form close & important friendships with their peers and permits them to develop self-esteem & sportsmanship that would not have otherwise been possible. Our players are able to develop at their own rate with the help of a very dedicated group of volunteer coaches that emphasize fun while learning. We rely primarily on donations to keep the team operating & all funds go directly to the program; our coaches, executive, and organizers are volunteers and donate their time for the good of the players.
