Make A Wish Foundation of Hawaii

This year, we recognized an important milestone for our organization—35 years of life-changing wishes that have sparked imagination in hundreds of keiki, delivered strength and hope for many `ohana, and united entire communities. From the wide-eyed joy of seeing snow for the first time to the excitement of swimming with a real-life mermaid or the laughter of a family making new memories, countless lives have been touched over the years. Each donor, referral partner, volunteer and community member across our state plays a vital role in bringing wishes to life for children and their families who endure the unthinkable. With the support of our generous community, we granted a record-breaking number of wishes in 2017 and moved closer to our goal of reaching every eligible child in Hawaii. Throughout our 35-year history, we are humbled and delighted to share that: more than 1,200 local keiki have experienced life-changing wishes; we’ve shared the aloha spirit with more than 14,000 visiting wish kids; neighbor island support has grown considerably with the hands and hearts of individuals from nearly every community; and 78 cents of every dollar went directly toward granting wishes in Hawaii in 2017. Thanks to our family of magic makers and wish believers, thousands of `ohana in Hawaii and across the world have experienced the profound impact of a wish—but our work is far from done.
