The Humane Society of Fremont County is an independent, non-profit agency. Our shelter is an open-admission animal shelter that provides animal-services to Fremont County and Custer County, CO, the cities of Canon City and Florence, and the towns of Williamsburg, Rockvale and Coal Creek, CO. We are not a division of the Fremont County government or the city of Cañon City, nor are we operated by or receive a penny in funding from the Humane Society of the United States. We are an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) corporation and we are governed by a board of directors.

Collaborate with multi-jurisdictional organizations to elevate training opportunities for Central Indiana K9s in service to our citizens by building a permanent training site. Build a War Dog Monument to honor the service of these brave animals to include a “heroes section” for the interment of K9s either killed in the line of duty or after retirement from service as a K9 officer.

Weezer’s Warriors is a Chicago based dog rescue nonprofit and humanitarian organization that seeks to save canine lives and improve human ones by finding homes for homeless dogs with individuals looking to improve their mental health and well-being through the benefits of the human-animal bond.

We strive to improve the lives of unowned cats and their relationship with our community. We do not remove or relocate cats. Midland Cat Wranglers are 100% volunteer based and all funds we receive go directly to cover spay/neuter and vaccination services.
Our obligation is to serve as a responsible land steward of the Refuge property and its natural resources, while promoting, implementing, and supporting environmental education.
