Love This Horse Equine Rescue

"Love This Horse, Equine Rescue Inc." is a horse rescue specializing in taking in forgotten, neglected and abused Arabian horses from local animal shelters, distressed owners, from low-end local horse auctions, and law enforcement seizures. We bring them into a safe and nurturing environment, where they are brought back to health. When the horses are strong enough, they are evaluated, and if possible, restarted for a new life as a riding horse. We believe that every horse deserves a job. For some of our horses, this means becoming a great trail or lesson horses. Others are destined to become therapy horses, helping kids and adults healing from their own deep wounds. We work hard to take care of these horses, all the while knowing that the horses are secretly taking care of us.

SCAT STREET CAT RESCUE PROGRAM INC.

Cats are prolific breeders averaging two litters a year and 5 kittens per litter. A mass spay/neutering program is the most efficient and cost-effective way of combating this rate of population growth. SCAT uses TNFA (Trap-Neuter-Foster-Adopt), especially for feral (wild) kittens who are brought into foster homes for socialization and adoption. Cats found to be social are advertised in case they have been separated from their families. SCAT also promotes the use of TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) when it is in the best interests of the feral (wild) cat to return him/her to their natural environment and where there is proper care provided - shelter, food, water and a caregiver to monitor health and well being. This is primarily around industrial/business areas where they are valued for their rodent control.

Last Chance Forever

Last Chance Forever, The Bird of Prey Conservancy's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release sick, injured, and orphaned birds of prey. Raptors are important ecological barometers, indicator species, that tell us messages concerning the over-all health of our environment. After all, they live on the same earth that we do, breath the same air, and drink the same water. Being smaller than us, toxins and other forms of environmental ills will affect them quicker than humans. LCF also provides sanctuary for raptors that are unfit to return to the wild. Many are used as Educational Ambassadors in public demonstrations, or as surrogates used to teach young raptors how to survive in the wild. LCF performs over 300 educational programs a year to a wide variety of audiences in varied venues.

Grand Canyon Wildlands Council

Grand Canyon Wildlands Council, founded in 1996, is a group of scientists, outdoor enthusiasts, and ardent conservationists working toward creative, science-based solutions to the threats facing the natural systems and wildlife of the Grand Canyon ecoregion. The mission of Grand Canyon Wildlands is to create and apply a dynamic wildlands network that ensures the existence, health, and sustainability of all native species and natural ecosystems in the Grand Canyon and the lands that surround it. To this end, Grand Canyon Wildlands uses hands-on scientific research to inform the management of the region's wildands, wildlife and waters. For example, we are working to identify important habitats like springs and old growth forests that need protection. In addition to "saving the pieces," we are working to heal the region's ecological wounds by restoring native vegetation and returning species that have been extripated like the wolf and the river otter.

Dachshund Rescue Educationawareness & Mentoring Dream Of Geo

dreamrescue.org DREAM stands for DACHSHUND RESCUE, EDUCATION, AWARENESS, and MENTORING We are an all-volunteer organization that rescues dachshund and dachshund mixes. We provide foster homes for abandoned, abused, or unwanted dachshunds and help them on their way to finding a permanent and loving home. VISION & MISSION We envision a time when every dachshund in Georgia has a loving home for its entire life. We believe that the welfare of our companion animals is an indication of the health of our society. We see the current welfare of our companion animals as a disease. To treat the symptoms of this disease, we rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dachshunds in need. To treat the causes of this disease, we educate the public on compassionate dog guardianship of any breed. We want to have a deep, direct impact in a limited geographic area, rather than a small impact in a large geographical area.

Urban Stable

The solid foundation that exists today within The Horse Connection Inc. began 15 years ago as a university project in Applied Counselling. Our Equine Alternative Learning Program developed out of the recognition of the importance and need to keep “at risk” youth engaged and in school. Using horses and the teaching of horsemanship as an instrumental tool to facilitate and to foster growth of unlimited life skills was how we envisioned responding to this need. The Horse Connection Inc. was founded and became a registered non-profit charitable organization in 2001, after which a 2-year pilot project was launched in 2002 with the Pembina Trails School Division. There is a strong consensus amongst the school division, schools, and the various governments social, health, youth and community services that have been involved in our program that there is a continuous need for the expansion of this unique type of school programming.
