As we approach our 25th Anniversary date, we reflect on the reality that our services have successfully benefitted over 400 children, youth and their families every year. We are excited about the thought of how many more can be served in the future. We are expanding our ‘fee for service’ program which will make counseling available to children, youth and families on any cry for help basis and not only by ministry or official referral. In order to provide this expanded service, we are requesting clients to contribute as much as they can toward the $90 per hour fee. We are asking potential donors to consider a donation to cover the cost of topping up the difference between what the client can afford and our $90 per hour fee. Our experience shows that an average subsidy requirement is $50 per hour. For example, $5,000 will provide 100 hours of support to a family in need. All donations will be appropriately acknowledged. We look forward to answering your questions.

In the past, the SRA has undertaken many projects, ranging from salmon habitat restoration to lobbying (successfully) for flood plain zoning and protection. Our efforts are concentrated on protecting and restoring salmon habitat, reconnecting fragmented salmon habitat, rebuilding salmon habitats through restocking, and educating the public through our two educational in-classroom programs River Rangers and Fish Friends. We are also working on developing a watershed management plan for the Sackville River Watershed, based on our existing Sackville River Ecosystem Plan (SREP). The expertise used to design and implement the protection, restoration activities and education materials comes from our volunteer membership, assistance from government staff at all levels, donated time from local consultant firms, and summer students when funding is available for them. Using this approach we have been quite successful to date.

L.I.F.E. Recovery is an acronym for ‘Living In Freedom Everyday’. This facility begins by looking at the causes – the roots – of addiction: the heart. It begins with the understanding that addicts are caught in the grip of an overwhelming compulsion and that only with God’s power and their own will can they be set free. Life Recovery, a charitable, non-denominational, women only facility, takes a positive and holistic approach to overcoming an array of addictions. As a registered charity, the organization depends heavily on sponsorships and donations to carry out its programs. By means of recognized programs, such as Alcoholics- and Narcotics Anonymous, as well as, a comprehensive Life Skills program and intense group and one-on-one Christian counseling, L.I.F.E Recovery hopes to rehabilitate the whole person – spirit, soul and body.
We help women build confidence and skills so they can participate in the community. The women we serve face challenges on various fronts. Many of our clients are new Canadians. Others may have financial barriers, be starting a new life or transitioning from shelters or survival jobs, imprisonment, abusive relationships or illness. We help them prepare for work, volunteer and educational opportunities. Our programs are free to our participants. They prepare women by teaching them lifeskills such as career planning, communications skills, workplace culture and coaching them on appropriate business wear. The Walk-In-Closet program offers one-on-one consultations to women on how to dress to look and feel their professional best. The program provides new and used clothing, makeup and accessories that have been donated. The Making Changes program targets immigrant women and offers workshops including career planning, communications, job search, interview skills and how to access resources.
